Talking about putting something in the most negative light. Prisco at it again.

Perhaps it's just me, but Pete Prisco went overboard in his criticism of Cam Newton in his article, beginning with the title, Ron Rivera jumps into a pile for his QB, who didn't do the same for him.

It's like he went out if his way to take Rivera's point (which us very valid in my opinion like I stated in the other thread), and turn it into a judgment on Cam Newton. No, he couldn't just stick to the pouting issue, which he referred to as a "tantrum", he had to take it back to the question of Cam jumping into the pile during the Super Bowl.

"Leaving the media standing there is a petty crime. Leaving the football on the field with the game on the line is a major football felony in my book."

Both of the issues are old, but I will give Prisco a pass on his pontifications about Cam's pouting because, arguably, Rivera opened the door. I will even admit that Rivera's comment about practicing fumble recoveries was more than lame and went too far,  but not as much as Prisco's attempt at reincarnating the sensationalized debate and media mayhem about Cam's decision not to jump into the pile.  And, no, I don't care that Prisco peppered his story with a few compliments that in the end are backhanded in nature due to being framed by a rehashing of what is now a non-issue.

Why do people keep mentioning the word "decision" in relation to Newton when talking about that fumble recovery?

How the hell does one supposedly "decide" in maybe a millisecond that he not only is putting himself above his teammates, but sacrificing a Super Bowl just because he doesn't want to get hurt? Nevermind the fact that he has literally repeatedly put himself on the line in games since he took his first snap as a Carolina Panther.

This whole thing is just incredibly preposterous.

The only issue I have with the article is that it's suggested that the rest of the team will make Cam answer to them for not diving on the when everyone gets back together for OTA's etc. That couldn't be further from the truth. This locker room wouldn't let something likes this linger and be a thing especially when, to them, it was never a thing in the first place.

Just shows that while Carolina is getting more media attention, the media still doesn't really know anything about this organization.

if you don't like the article don't click/link it

I link articles like this so anyone who wants to respond and give writers a piece of their mind can do so. Even sports journalists should be called on their poo.

maybe it's the mood i'm in today but this pissed me off.  pencil neck dipshits who would poo themselves in fear if they stepped on an NFL field for one play acting like what's in "their book" really matters.

marc james was the worst about it.  larry bird on crack looking motherfuger repeatedly calling out jonathan stewart's "toughness" and calling him a girl and stuff.

anyway have a nice day guys the weather is great

Why get caught up in semantics? Can had a choice, like it or not, and I don't blame him for it one bit. People need to stop pretending that split-second decisions do not exist. They do. But That's really beside the main issue that I have with this article.

Lordy. So what else are they going to talk about in March with the #1 NFL team? We're not making any noise, haven't lost any major players, going about business as usual. Cam isn't dancing, he's making a tv show encouraging young people & that won't get clicks.

Of course split second decisions exist, but not in the absurd context with which some fools are suggesting occurred with Newton.

Ultimately all that matters is what is within his heart as a competitor. Any Panthers fan with a functioning brain knows that he would pretty much have given anything to win that Super Bowl with his teammates/coaches. All this other fugery by the media is the same bullshit it always has been the last 5 years.

On this we can agree.

    • He's not wrong though. You talk like a politician on here. Leaving yourself just enough wiggle room to say you never fully counted Bryce out if you need to....But we can all see it. Just say you think he is a bust outright and you will have to type a lot less. Obfuscating your opinion behind QB3 competitions etc....
    • Most EVs are in the 90+ e-MPG meaning some measurement house somewhere compares the EV to a similar ICE model and works out how much is costs to charge (on average) versus fill up as a point of comparison. Talking long term, in the hundreds of thousands of miles?  No clue.  Some early signs are that EV batteries maintain 80% charge over 400k miles.  So there's that.   The challenge and charm of an ICE vehicle is being able to park it under a tree, get your jack stands out and tinker with your engine.  There's just not that same level of complexity in an EV.  I saw someone estimate there are 200 or so moving parts in an EV, and 2000 in an ICE vehicle.  I'm not a part counter so I can't really speak to that. I think that the EV is more the future than any type of combustion engine.  Those will still be around in specific purposes, but for most people - an EV will be the superior option in terms of efficiency.  I say that as someone who loves stupid horsepower numbers out of turbo 4 bangers and inline 6s...  I am one of those tinkers when I can be. A bigger issue for EVs is going to be the ownership versus lease.  Right now, there are INSANE leases on EVs, which is great, but what do you have at the end of that lease?  Nada, maybe some equity if you're lucky.  Where as I'm almost done paying for my car, and plan to keep it until the wheels fall off (or my son wrecks it when he starts to drive).  Will EV makers do the smartphone thing and build in planned obsolesce?  Stop updating software?  I love the tech in EVs, and I think getting more cars and trucks off the road is a good thing.  But I am still just a little concerned.  Capitalism has gotten far too extractive.
