"The excitement in every record or amazing play is there, but the half-life of each moment is so short, you have to do what you can to capture it," said Chris Halpin, senior vice president of consumer products for the league.

The league and Fanatics will work ahead of time to develop more products tied to records they know are coming up and set up a system for quick approval of designs minutes after a bankable moment, like Aaron Rodgers Hail Mary against the Detroit Lions, happens on the field.

seems like a slippery slope to me. Instead of watching genuine NFL moments there is  monetize incentive to fabricate these moments for profit. What do you guys think about all this?

Meh. They set up super fast screen printing and distribution. It's kind of hard to manufacture plays like OBJs one handed catch. They're just finding ways to capitalize on the action.

Of course but manufacturing stats and  statistical achieve are in the realm of possibility also manufacturing winners and losers to maximize profit. Basically this adds more incentive for them put their hands in games.

I think it'll be a way to monetize the crazy left field stats and records like first team to win a game after trailing by 4 in the 4th and win by 4 with 4 seconds left in OT on week 4 on 4th down and 4 with the final score being 40-44.

The NFL makes billions upon billions of dollars as is.  It would be incredibly dumb of them to risk that by manufacturing outcomes for what amounts to fractions of a penny on the dollar additional potential profit.

My first though as well. We are talking a few million in impulse sales. That ain't nearly enough to get them in trouble for tampering. The NFL took in 9.5 billion last year. A few millions is a drop in the bucket. They just want that bucket. Every opportunity to make a buck.

Just something to keep in mind, the more they make the higher the cap goes.  The higher the cap goes, G-Man might just sign a player to a 2-3 year deal that might grab some attention.

What's the risk you speak of if they cover their tracks/and have half the people defending their every move anyway? 

Idk about you but I don't put anything past greedy billionaires looking to further their bottom line. If you think fixing winners would only get them pennies on the dollar idk what to tell you.

I just watched a Superb Owl where obvious game changing decisions/non-decisions were made by the officials.

It may or may not be likely, but it sure would be possible.

There has always been monetary incentive for big moments, they're just working on making the most of it. They gave an example of the Rodgers hail mary pass, how could they script that???
