An outlier among teams with the most cap space

Recommended Posts

RANK TEAM SIGNED AVG AGE OFFENSE DEFENSE CAP SPACE (W/TOP 51)
1 Jacksonville Jaguars 74 25.01 $56,446,828 $75,823,072 $54,893,076
2 San Francisco 49ers 71 25.52 $56,268,118 $56,497,240 $52,522,561
3 Cleveland Browns 62 25.65 $47,235,738 $67,047,118 $39,886,741
4 Carolina Panthers 72 25.75 $73,072,459 $39,719,599 $30,868,413
5 Tennessee Titans 69 25.57 $63,643,063 $72,043,356 $28,101,491
6 Chicago Bears 73 25.64 $66,456,597 $54,580,454 $22,605,370

Excluding the Panthers' record, the remaining five teams above had a combined record of 22-58(.275) last season.

We reached the Super Bowl, but have more cap space than 28/31 other teams.

It just makes me feel good.

What does it look like at this moment or how much does he have left?

He has a $9.5M cap hit this year. In '17 it'll be $8.25M and then he's a free agent. Wouldn't save much at all to cut him this year but next year if he's a post June 1 cut we'd save $6.25M of that $8.25M.

Unbelievable that a RB is taking up $10M of our cap and we have $35M in cap space and made the Super Bowl last year. Truly unbelievable. I don't know how one couldn't believe in DG.

Cam is the GOAT, GMan is the GOAT.  Obviously I'm not kidding.  Moreso than "making the Super Bowl", we won 17 games.  Something that only a handful of other teams have done.  Ever.

What DG, Cam, Rivera and Luke have done here is on the path to GOAT for sure, but we still haven't won a Super Bowl. We need at least 2 from these guys for them to be in the discussion in my opinion. I would take DG as my GM over any in the history of the league, Rivera over any coach, Luke over any other defensive player, and Cam over any other QB but we still need to win it all. Preferably more than a couple times.

We will still win at least 3 over the next decade.  Never been more sure of anything.

This is better than porn. In a different way, but slightly better.

Kalil is taking up $10m.  Heck, Ed Dickson is the 12th highest paid player on the team--we have never been in better shape.

Sh*t, just win one and I'm happy the rest of my life.

We'll have some big contracts coming in the next couple of years, and a lot of expiring deals after this season on defense especially....but yeah, we're sitting pretty right now.

That much cap space, with Cam and Luke locked up. Kalil (if he keeps playing) will cost less next time around, Olsen and TD have some time left on good deals, etc.  Hard not to love where we sit for the near future.

    • This is what I mean. I am not some huge BY fan. I honestly don't look at QBs the way a lot of you guys do. Right or wrong, I've always looked at them as just another cog in the machine. Didn't want BY or even a trade up for a QB in 2023. We saw in the Super Bowl how important the rest of the team is on any given Sunday. Now... so PFF, who has no reason to prop up BY, says he's first in 2 stat lines and Panthers "fans" are arguing why it's either wrong or a made up stat just to make BY look good. Even though they have multiple stat lines where he's literally last in. Like 32nd in the NFL. Some he's even lower than 32. Take a step back. Try to objectively self analyze. This is just not sensible.  Same thing I see with other teams' fans and their QBs though. We analyze every single throw on every single play. For every other QB, most here are only using highlights to judge. Makes a difference. We saw Stafford miss throws when they played Carolina - both games. We saw Love throw crap up when they played Carolina. We saw Dak miss throws when they played Carolina - and Pickens was putting on a SHOW. We saw Josh Allen win a game with 163 yards passing against Carolina, but if BY does it he's crap and can't pass for 200 yards. Gents... come on.
    • None of us think we're contenders this season but no reason we're doomed to 5 or 6 wins either. Dan has to have another 2025- like draft class and at least 2 key free agent signings. We're not Seattle but they don't win without 5 starters from their last 2 draft classes and Darnold and Lawrence in free agency.  Alas,  we'll have to wait one more season for a QB upgrade.
