Two days ago Tirico would have been on that list. He did absolutely everything for them. If another company offers those guys more money and there is a directive from Disney, their parent company, that they can only pay people a certain amount then those guys could be gone as well. Bayless made them a lot of money and they couldn't match Fox's offer.

I don't think Tirico is at the level of those guys.

Berman is a lifer, he just isn't going anywhere at this point

Mike and Mike have the most watched/listened to sports talk radio show ever and have manned their most important block of programming (morning drive) for almost 20 years now, they couldn't afford to lose them and their fan base, there is a reason they just made the broadcasting HOF.

And SVP was given his own custom sportscenter show to basically do as he pleases.

Tirico called a lot of different things, but he was never given the things the Mikes or SVP have been.

basically people were realizing on their TV bills that the packages they get are normally like .50 a channel but ESPN was like $3.00 per channel. People were calling their cable companies and saying they don't even watch ESPN and wanted it taken off. So cable companies started dropping ESPN from basic cable packages and having to lower prices, etc.

numbers might not be accurate- but you get the idea.. thats what i've heard

Pretty much what has happened except ESPN is like $6/month plus more for ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNEWS, SEC Network. It ends up being like $15/month for the ESPN networks which for the people who never watch sports is ridiculous. Apparently they are trying to get just ESPN on those basic packages and even willing to lower their per subscriber price. Don't know how successful they have been at it but that's the last I read on the subject.

lol wat? Tirico has been at ESPN for 25 years, joined when he was 24, does Monday Night Football, NBA, Tennis, radio, etc. He is a huge, huge loss for them.

Yes, he does a lot for them, but it's mainly calling games, that can be replaced without much if any viewership drop off.

They could not replace Mike and Mike with someone and keep half their viewers they bring in, way more valuable to ESPN than Tirico

ESPN overpays for everything and over charges.

Cord cutting has caught up in some ways and people gathering at bars as well.

A shift back to some over the air games should tick back up in a few years.

Disney should be rolling after what marvel and Lucasfilm has done for them.

ESPN should get with the times and offer programming on stand alone internet service.  They are losing money by sticking with only cable and satellite service.

Yeah. Something like 8 bucks a month similar to the movie channels but not over 10.

Sling tv is a foreshadow of tv.

Yep. I'm waiting for a major cable company to offer a package that let's you pick specifically what channels you want to actually watch for x amount of money each. Sling TV is a step in the right direction, but it's not quite there.

I enjoy the hell out of sling.  Don't mind how crappy ESPN is when I barely pay for it.  Check out Vicelabd on sling.  Good stuff.
