Yeah what punishments do you think Goodell is gonna dole out on them when he finds out they overpaid?

What the hell are you talking about?

You keep trying to put words in my mouth so you can revert back to your original post that teams with aging QB's don't go "all in".

I just pointed out one team that did it just this season....IMO.  Your's seems to be that those are great, young players that they just accidentally overpaid.  They went out and got some of the "best" FA talent out there to make a run, while not preparing for the longterm future of the team.

Lol you sound really paranoid. I didn't put any words in your mouth. I used sarcasm to infer a point-the point being that the only consequence that will come out of "overpaying" Janoris Jenkins is improved CB play and a player who you can count on to stay on the field more than Prince Amukumara.

And again, you're making the enormous stretch that signing three young players somehow equates to "going all in" which has no basis other than the Huddle born foundation of "free agency=bad" or even more ridiculously "free agency=short term gratification"

New York signed three young players to multi year contracts. If you choose to believe it was a "all in for this year" move then that's your prerogative, but you're fighting an uphill battle if you want to convince anybody else of that.

First off, I'm not trying to convince anyone of anything.

Secondly, I didn't say this year, I said the next 2 years.

Good point. I guess I just want the instant gratification of watching them finally not be named the NFCS Super Bowl winners of March, and listed as the bottom dwellers of the division. It does seem like the saint's nut hugging is laying off a bit, but I also avoid major sports media outlets unless someone links an article from here.

Like I said, the anticipation is killing me lol.

They are going all out while Breese is there. After he leaves they will be worse than the bucs.

Eh, it's PFF. He got beat like a drum against Arizona, Houston and Washington (I saw two of those games). If he only gave up 20 pressures, then I'm Charlie Murphy.

Lol. No he didn't. The pressure all year came from the right side and the revolving door at the guard spots.

if you took any acct class you'd know how to crunch numbers, no surprise the saints keep having magically cap to sign people year in and out, they won't crash due to cap issues but due to a HOF qb retiring and a atrocious defense, and of course if the let one of the better coaches in the league go.

Who's Peat taking over for this year? Strief, Lelito, or Evans's old spot? Kind of de-values Peat as a 1st rounder since he isn't going to play LT, now that Armstead got paid

Think it'll be Streif. That'll leave Lelito, Kelemente, and Landon Turner to compete for the guard spots.

I don't agree that it de-values him. A tackle is a tackle. Streif almost allowed Brees season to end in the first Bucs game. He's a turnstile on the right side. A quality left or right tackle is worth a first if you ask me.

An offensive tackle getting drafted #15 overall kind of implies he'll be a LT. And if a tackle is a tackle, try having Strief play LT and Armstead RT. That would be fun. We'd like that. BTW, props to Deuce for giving Will Smith a shout-out. That's class

Panthers fans just think Armstead sucks because he got ABUSED by Greg Hardy in that one game his rookie year.  He's gotten a lot better since then.

But are we going to give him a chance to prove it?  ;)

Didn't he give up 3 sacks to Hardy in the first half though? Lol

oh yeah it was definitely something like that.  he had a much quieter second half hence alejandro focusing entirely on that aspect when he would abortively try to talk poo in smack.

armstead did turn into a hell of a good tackle though so i'll give that to him.  one out of fifty million isn't bad i guess.

Yeah. I didn't agree with the move to start Armstead that week at all. He was raw. He got thrown into the fire against one of the premier pass rushers in the league. Got dominated the first half. Dominated Hardy the second. He's been a stud ever since.

    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
