NFL.com selects Panther's best and worst historical draft picks

I don't think you can have 20/20 when choosing Carruth. No one saw that coming. To me, the worst is taking a huge risk on a player that you already know is a project and giving up high round draft picks in the process. Which is why I believe Armanti Edwards is the worst.

We list the Super Bowl to one who's hard to argue against. There  are multiple other number 1 picks with multiple super bowl wins and hall of famers.  That's a stretch at this point.

Too many Cam-huggers. Von Miller could easily be the justifiable no.1 pick from that 2011 class . I mean, he wasn't the league MVP last year, just Super Bowl 50 MVP.  Meanwhile, SSS is maybe the only player from that 2001 class that is still playing (and at a high level) in the NFL and to get him in the third round..........!!!!!!  Why is that not the best pick?

*just for you NEW panthers fans...

Rae Carruth is an easy cop-out.

BTW, he was turning into a good WR before his incident.

No, he was not.  He was ok for a rookie in his first year, injured in his second year, and in his third year he was headed toward another ~600 yard season when he was busted.  His replacement in the starting line-up, Patrick Jeffers, went on for a 1,000 yard season.  Carruth caught just 53.8% of his targets, while in the same offense Muhammad caught 61.4% and Jeffers 62.1%.  Rae scored only 4 career TDs, all in his rookie year, and was viewed as a bit of a disappointment in his third season when he committed the crime.

Steve Smith scored more than 8 TDs once in his NFL career.  He was awesome but part of what made him so awesome was his style of play and the entertainment value of it.

Cam is a human cheat code the NFL has never experienced.  That is why he is the best pick.  No one in NFL history has comparable duel threat production to Cam....plenty compete with 89.

ask anybody if they were starting a team and could choose between a first team all pro quarterback and league MVP (an award won over the course of a season) and first team all pro pass rusher and super bowl MVP (award won over the course of one game)

you could make a case for either but push comes to shove most anyone wouldn't try to get too cute and would take the quarterback

Yup. And no smart GM is taking a WR.
