Now that two weeks of the Carolina Panthers OTA practices have come and gone, I thought I would take a moment and adjust my previous roster projection to reflect what is happening on the practice field. Remember, this is an organic list that will change based on the number of reps each player receives in practice.

Here is my updated 2016 Panthers Roster Projection….

OFFENSE 25

Quarterback (3)
Cam Newton
Derek Anderson
Joe Webb

Tight End (3)
Greg Olsen
Ed Dickson
Beau Sandland

Note: No change here. These are your 2016 Carolina Panthers tight ends.
Wide Receiver (5)
Kelvin Benjamin
Devin Funchess
Ted Ginn
Stephen Hill
Philly Brown

Note: No change here either. I am sticking with this prediction for now. Stephen Hill has looked like a much improved player.

Running Back (3)
Jonathan Stewart
Cameron Artis-Payne
Brandon Wegher

Note: Both Artis-Payne and Wegher saw snaps with the second team in practice last Tuesday. Fozzy may be the odd man out.

Full Back (1)
Mike Tolbert

Offensive Line (10)
Michael Oher
Mike Remmers
Daryl Williams
Trai Turner
Andrew Norwell
Ryan Kalil
Chris Scott
Gino Gradkowski
David Foucault
(Insert Free Agent Here)

Note: I still believe a free agent tackle is coming sooner or later. As of now, David Foucault is backing up Michael Oher. I am not too sure how comfortable I am with that.

Defense (25)

Defensive Line (9)

Kony Ealy
Charles Johnson
Star Lotulelei
Kawann Short
Vernon Butler
Paul Soliai
Mario Addison
Wes Horton
Rakim Cox

Note: I am trading out Delaire for Cox here based on practice reps. Cox looked solid last preseason and appears to be making strides.

Linebacker (6)

Thomas Davis
Luke Kuechly
Shaq Thompson
AJ Klein
David Mayo
Jeremy Cash

Cahnuh (5)

Bene Benwikere
James Bradberry
Daryl Worley
Zack Sanchez
Robert McClain

Note: McClain has gotten the majority of first string snaps across from Bradberry.

Safety (5)

Kurt Coleman
Tre Boston
Dean Marlowe
Colin Jones
Marcus Ball

Note: No change here. I am really liking Marcus Ball to make this roster.

Special Teams (3)

Graham Gano
Swayze Waters
JJ Jansen

Note: Swayze Waters is in no danger of losing his roster spot.

Any news on Arthur Miley?  Would he be above or below Delaire in your current ranking?

Still don't think we'll keep 10 Oline, so that would open up another spot...

Curious if there's any chance we keep Devon Johnson as a 2nd FB to groom behind Tolbert.

This...I need to know about Miley. One thing about Delaire, he had shoulder surgery.

    • That's a very incorrect statement right off the bat, coaches get fired for winning ugly all the time.  Every coach of a playoff team that then gets fired, got fired because they won ugly and didn't improve their players enough to win in the postseason. Guys like Andy Reid have been fired for "winning ugly" like you said, because they kept winning in spite of the improvement of their players. Also, "this is a fanbase starved for wins" is a statement I also don't agree with, I'm not "starved for wins", I'm "starved for a winning and contending franchise" which are two VERY different things. If the team and fans just want to win some games, then that's a loser mentality, sorry, but it is.  We should want to contend, not win a handful of games.  Every time this comes up I point back to the Lions the last 5 years or so.  They were losing games but improving every week while doing so a few years back.  THAT is how you improve as a franchise and move the needle towards contending, not winning games ugly.
    • Good lord. I don’t think I have ever seen a hole that open.
    • this is true.  But NFL Ss and defenses are actively taking that away and playing to take them away vs most teams.  The problem thus far in BY's career......is they are cheating and not respecting the deep game which makes the smaller/mid range game harder to pull off.  and Dallas is an anomaly game.  using those random games that run counter to vast work......doesn't really change the discussion/issues in Carolina.  Bryce Young took the shots this week because they were not just NFL open but college open.    Wide open dudes downfield that really were coverage busts/issues.
