Ryan Kalil gets 2 year extension through 2018

I just had an interesting thought.   I was looking at Spotrac and all of the contracts expiring at the end of this season.  When you sort by year, it then automatically sorts by contract value, from highest to lowest:

Just maybe we'll see new contract deals done in that order?   I wouldn't put it past DG to want to honor the vets by doing Kalil & Oher before KK.....

With this signing, I'd assume that 2018 is when he'll retire.  I also feel like it would be a safe bet that we start looking for a center to draft to groom as his replacement next year.  I'm glad for him that he got paid and we get to keep continuity on the offensive line.

Yes! Was a bit worried he would do like Gross and retire. This definitely gives us more time to groom our next center after Kalil

I'm sure nobody is happier than Cam right now.  Next to the coaching staff, the QB has to trust the center the most.  Especially if you're willing to rest the back of your hands on his under carriage a few dozen times a game.
