Players who hurt/helped themselves (game 3)

Funchess came to play.  David Mayo is much better than I expected.  Ealy looks primed for a big year.  1st string offensive line looked good.  Stew and Tolbert looked good in very limited time.  CAP looks like he's locked down the final RB spot.

Worley looked pretty good after that first play.  Bradberry only had 1 bad play.  Coleman hopefully doesn't drop that again.  Bene had good coverage- Brady made a HOF throw.

Cam was as bad as he's been in the last 3 years.  Ginn is Ginn.  KB and Cam are not in synch, and KB certainly doesn't look all the way back.

Backup DE's are nothing special.  Didn't notice Vernon Butler at all tonight.  Nobody wants to win the 3rd TE spot I guess.  Mucas had a couple of nice catches, but I don't know how he makes the team given his limitations as a blocker.  Safety is a legitimate concern.  I hope Whitner or Stevie Brown can contribute.  Having Remmers going against Von Miller again to start the season is scary.  Definite weak link on line.

Think tre Boston was supposed to have over top help on that Bene play. At least it looked that way.

Sorry but Bene got beat often tonight and that coverage wasn't good. If it was a good the WR would have had to make a great play. He just had to run under it.

Bene probably could've played the ball a little more aggressively, but the coverage could not be any better. Brady's ball placement is impeccable.

    • Basically agree.  He is the one of that bunch that offers upgraded pass catching along with he is supposed to be kind of special.   Then you have the OL and the ideas that if they perform you can have JAG backs and still do well. So okay we could be fine.  But Brooks is important and to me that receiving element sets him apart.  So there sure is something riding on him.     What strikes me as incongruent is people over in Atlanta or those that follow them look at Penix with a third surgery and act like it is no big deal.      And we are on pins and needles over Brooks.  Either they should worry a lot more or we should worry a lot less.
    • I usually go a game or two optimist over the consensus here but this is too early for me to say. I need to see some players on the field.  I am not feeling real optimistic though.
    • Okay as a ‘take CJ’ fan I actually don’t obsess over CJ and Houston, contrary to the narrative.  But I thought I picked up some noise that his OL left a lot to be desired.    Not a single Beyce supporter would judge him harshly if he had a crappy OL. We all know that.    So be fair about it.  A QB needs to be protected.  Especially a guy that gets to his spot and wants to finish the play from there. Which CJ is.
