choice: KK short

Nothing serious just a game to tide us all over till the game when it comes to the KK contract would you rather..

A. Like for him to have another monster year. Thereby commanding to be paid top DT money. Which going on 28 years old would be in the Suh, Marcell Dareus range of 95 to 114 million or..

B. Have a "down year" by his standards with more moderate sack numbers that could be used as leverage by the FO to get him to sign a contract more inline with the top 10 to 15 defensive players in the league. A regression to the mean so to speak with last years numbers being more of an outlier

Each choice of course has its own pros and cons. going with A, you risk him not living up to the contract which judging by how a lot of DT get after they get paid is always a strong possibility. Tying up so much in one player could cost us somewhere else. On the other hand the pros are self-evident. Getting interior pressure is rare and makes the entire defense that much better.

Going with B, somewhere between 6 to 8 sacks and fewer pressures. Sign a lower contract along with the possibility of someone else emerging on the DLine. less money paid overall of course protects cap space and could be used for other moves but not as much production from KK.

I want him to wreck assholes. I want to win now. the contract will take care of itself with effort from both sides.

I would like KK to repeat last years play (not stats)....but get even better play from Star and good play from Butler.

I think if those around him make more plays it helps with his contract.  We still benefit from great interior play it just isn't seen on one man's stats

but I can't get on board with not wanting him to play as good

Huge year and win a Super Bowl. If the contract doesn't work itself out after that then sincerely thank him for his contribution with the team and go with Butler. He'd get his money somewhere else+a ring and wed get our ring + money to spend on upcoming contracts. Win win. Obviously I hope we can keep him either way but I can't see Gettleman paying that much for him.

    • I don't think it was fear of the unknown because he tried to hide the extent of the injuries that made him drop. After the drop, the reports I heard were that teams knew what was wrong with his knee and it was something similar to another athlete from a few years ago (honestly don't remember if it was even a football player).  That it was basically one of those things where he should be fine for a while, there isn't a huge concern of immediate injury risk.   But what he has going on with his knee is something that is degenerative and there's little chance he'll be able to play more than 5 or so years on it before he won't be able to play anymore. So basically it was teams knowing if they draft him, he's probably going to be only a rookie contract player and even if he's great, you might not be able to get use out of him on a second contract.  Which in turn makes the drop make sense, but I'm kinda surprised some contending team didn't take him late in the 1st, hoping he'd put them over the top on a SB run but then not even have to worry about giving him a big contract in 4 years too.
    • Depends if they see the writing on the wall with their roster and contracts and decide to bite the bullet and begin a complete rebuild and roster overhaul.  I have no clue why some franchises (IE us) refuse to do this and keep half assing trying to win 8 games or so.  Do it correctly, take your lumps and build a contender.  We shall see what loomis decides.
    • Each team plays 17 games.  I do not see why they don't just have each team play one international game per year.  Neutral site game, 8 home, 8 away.
