Didn't want to come here today... but did... Didn't see it on the front page... but Shula...

I still feel like Shula makes bad decisions at critical points in the game, and doesn't make good enough adjustments on the fly...

Specifically, the tipped pick play that Cam had...

It's the 4th quarter, at the beginning of a drive. You're in the lead. There's a lot of time left on the clock. You just got 6 yards on a run on first and 10. Your QB is starting to get more and more pressure as the game goes on. 2nd and 4 and you run an 8 yard in route?

Granted, it was a heck of a play by the Denver D. But we put them into position to make that play by not sticking to the run at that point.

I get it, we have All World targets and a QB that is elite. But, it is okay to run the ball in this situation.

Also, NOBODY could get open all game, apparently.

I think we only targeted Ginn and Brown a combined 4-5 pass plays.

We did absolutely nothing different on offense, and actually got worse, after halftime. That is what cost us the game, and Shula is at least partially to blame. IDGAF hate me or whatever, but it is true.

Didn't you know? Shula is a genius. He finally learned how to be a competent coach after Alabama, Tampa Bay, 2013-2014 and The Superbowl.

Yep.

I thought he called an excellent 1st half.

I thought I was watching the Super Bowl again in the 2nd half.  Wade Phillips was probably laughing his ass off on the Denver sideline.

The 3rd and 1 with Fozzy in the backfield - Cam bootlegged and was stopped short - was an absolute head-scratcher. No one in that stadium thought that Fozzy would get the ball in that situation. I think that was the opening drive of the 2nd half too, so that was a killer.

This right here.  Stewart got us to that third and one and we tried to get cute.  Should have handed the ball back to him.

Also..  I'm so tired of the Tolbert runs..

OMG, 1 playcall didn't work out?! Did you also see that fullback run through out defence? definitely need to fire McDermott too.

Where in my post did I say, or even imply, anything knee-jerk? My comment was that it was a bad playcall and/or personnel choice, which it definitely was.

To be honest, I didn't see any true adjustments other than more protection sent Remmers' way. We still had too many long developing pass plays and lackluster run designs.

This!

I expected to see more running plays, short passes, and screens.  The latter two were basically non existent.  We had a good ypc average with the runs (4.9), but Stewart only had 15 carries. I think Shula should just let Stewart line up in an I Formation and just run the ball instead of calling so many runs from the Shotgun set. We had 32 running plays and Stewart and Newton accounted for 26 of them.  Was Artis Payne hurt or inactive last night? He looked good in the preseason but didn't the entire game.

Would it hurt Shula to put in some 3 step drops and screen passes to neutralize the pass rush?

I want to go back and see but my initial look at that tipped ball was that Cam was a little late on the throw and gave the defender time to close in on the receiver.  I could be wrong.
