Any concerns of protests this Sunday?

This question pertains to the area of Charlotte in general on Sunday.  I travel in for games around twice a year, and this week is one of them.  I am worried about protests of any kind.  What say you?  Has the reaction that the area saw last night come to an end, or will it crank back up when crowds are bigger to have more impact?

I was at the Charlotte Knights game last year when BLM protested outside of the stadium.  It was unnerving. I was there with my 9 year old daughter and following the game, they kept us locked in the stadium for 15 minutes or so because some of the protesters were getting violent. They finally got the riot gear out and made a safe exit for us out one entrance. Last thing I needed my kid to see is cops in riot gear at a goddamn baseball game. She was really scared as neither of us knew WTF was going on outside the stadium.

So #1, yes I would expect something, and #2, keep your kids away if they are planned for the day. Take the kids apple picking or something and DVR the game.

I was also in Minneapolis last year when BLM protested at the Twin Cities Marathon. At least they did it the right way. Peacefully and respectful of the athletes (although they planned to actually interfere/stop the race, some smart folks convinced them that would be a really bad idea).  They were out there but they weren't trying to intimidate cops and turn the marathon into a sh it show.

5 minutes ago, Jeremy Igo said:

A lot depends on what happens between now and Sunday I think. The police should release the video and be totally transparent.

Not going to happen.  More than one video.  And those videos may be part of a criminal prosecution, asking for a video to be released will fall on deaf ears.

As for the protests, there shouldn't be anything to worry about.  But if you want to avoid any possible situation, then stay home.

    • Everyone says AT was old and slow but the one thing he could do consistently was get separation. That takes skill and it's been a huge issue in our WR for years. And while Moore may be a great locker room guy and our WR coach may be a 12 year vet, he's not playing in the game. Vets like AT do what they do because they can see things others don't and exploit it. The DB interview I mentioned before was with Stephon Gilmore after his DPOY season. He was pulling the younger DBs aside showing them things you wouldn't even think you'd be able to tell from the way the receiver was standing.  Seeing what a DB or LB is biting on in game that can give you that half step advantage is huge and we don't have that experience in our WR group right now and I think it could end up hurting us. None of our receivers have lined up against NFL corners successfully on a regular basis. Having someone that can walk over and give you a tip to get a half yard separation can be a difference maker.
    • We only fielded about 4 NFL calibre players on that unit last year.
    • only 1 QB in the history of mankind has managed a winning record with his opportunities in the David Tepper era.    Bring in PJ.   He has NFL tools.  He will at least be entertaining if called upon.  How is that not better than Andy.  *PJ Walker bandwagon is back up now that it is....not...time for for the percolator.
