So I was scrolling throught the viking's AOL age messaging board, and found this gem of a thread:

http://www.vikingsmessageboard.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=29454

Some nice quotes for your enjoyment:

I had to go back and check it out. Wow. Some serious hating going on. But, to be fair, the biggest criticisms were towards the "look" of this message board. I don't get it. I love the purple on black. But I understand that hurts people's eyes? ... There is no reason this board isn't way sexier. lol.

Well. They claim their messaging board is more aesthetically pleasing than our board. I would say otherwise. Anyhow if all they're worrying about is our opinion of their board format...well. Good luck.

Didn't realize that my summary of the 2014 matchup was so controversial! My bad for misremembering and thinking that game was in Carolina. Makes me even more excited for tomorrow.

Considering that Cam Newton was banged up and the team was in rebuilding mode, plus the atmosphere up in Minnesota at the time, one would consider that a big deal. Big difference between 80 degree weather and 15. Won't be as easy of a deal as they think.  Considering how revamped our offense is, and how strong our defense is this go around, well good luck.

The funniest thing about all this is they, for some reason, think they have an all world defense because of one player. When currently they are behind us in yardage and ranked 19th in points allowed through two games. They think they have a better defense than green bay when the stats say otherwise. Jaded is a word that comes to mind. They are in the position they are in because of their offense. period.

Oh gosh. This right here is gold.

The best LB corps in the NFL with one of the deepest DL group in the NFL is considered worse than Green Bay? Heck I mean I know our DE depth is bad, and our secondary is young, but goodness to be considered sub-par to Green Bay based on numerical stats? Numbers don't always tell the story, and if they sleep on our defense, who got 3 turnovers against Denver, a forced fumble and 2 interceptions against the 49ers if im not mistakened. Coupled with Sam Bradford's mobility issues, and their sorry excuse of an OLine, our pass rush will get there. Well, if they want to compare us to less stellar Green Bay, well...they'll be in for a rude awakening.

Cannot wait!

Frankly if it continues, McDermott has to be held responsible. Our defense has declined year by year.

Do you really think we should point our fingers at McDermott if our defense regresses?  We're just going to ignore the facts that our CB position is full of rookies/journeymen, Tre Boston is underwhelming, and that all of our DEs are a joke?  Maybe McDermott deserves some of the blame, but our defensive personnel isn't exactly solid at all positions.

really? Two games in and we're taking jabs at our defense? Our defense starts slow every season if you pay attention at all. Our secondary is young but Bradberry has caught on fast and is mature beyond his years. Dont count out Mcclain or Benwikere. Coleman is a stud and our linebackers are the best in the league. Our dline is a beast even if we are struggling to get a pass rush. All of that will get worked out as the season goes on like it always does

I wouldn't say that necessarily, it's just the ebb and flow of salary cap era football. Sometimes the talent all lines up and sometimes it doesn't. I'd love for Hardy and Norman to still be here, but the fact that you have 3rd day picks coming here and leaving as some of the top players at their positions shows we have a good thing going. Klein might be the next one.

Okay. So apparently our stacked defense was reducted to one considerably worse than Green Bay's based on the first few games of the season.

Okay.

I haven't jumped ship. In fact, I don't plan to until proven otherwise midway through the season. Our defense has potential to be top 5, even with not having any all pros in the secondary. On paper, our front seven is nasty, and it has been honestly.

The rush has gotten there the past few games, its just the QB has thrown it or escaped the pocket many times. Should DE depth be addrsssed? Sure. Is our secondary horrid? No, not really. We don't have all pros at every position, but honestly it's been decent.

Sam Bradford won't be able to be as shifty as his predecessor QBs before him. His Oline will make our pass rush elite. Don't start comparing us to a lesser defense than Green Bay just yet.

    • Not sure who said it first, but Tepper is the correct answer. Still, I'm gonna go with Kasay keeping it inbounds. If, you subscribe to the butterfly effect version of time travel consequences.... When we win SBXXXVIII everybody's lives change: Moose never breaks his leg, We win it all again in 05. Tommy Jone is unknown and Peppers stays home, Champs once more 2008. No artificial pig heart turning JR into a creepy weirdo, no lockout, no Clausen. Fox and Jake ride off into the sunset on their own terms. No 2-14, no #1 pick. But, no laptop, no Blinn, 3 years behind The Golden Calf of Bristol, we still get Cam. JR let's him grow his locs like he always wanted, Smitty sees Cam in a new light. Dreads swinging, (and Smitty with his 3 Lombardis behind him) Cam is old enough to get those calls. No Manning narrative, Cotchery TD, PI against Talib on Philly Brown, 10,000 RTP calls and Kony Ealy SB50 MVP. No Jeans Fridays, no Tepper. KB doesn't slip on his own meatsweat mid-route in SD, Cam becomes the 1st QB to win 10 straight SBs. Retiring after being elected 47th president of the US of A, Cam ushers in the Permanent Proletarian Revolution across the globe, Xi Jinping bows in awe. "ẄøŘƙƐṛ§ őF ŧĤə ŵØRłð, ŮŊÏŦƐ!!!"
    • Yeah your right the owner was copping hand shandies while all this was going down
    • I mean not surprised the Patriots took him in and aren't trying to push him out. They've been the most morally bankrupt team in the NFL for a long while. Wouldn't be surprised if Vrabel has his own dirt on Kraft/Brady and other assholes from that organization over the last couple decades.
