We really shouldn't be all that worried. We could easily be 4-0, 3-1 right now. It's just a lot of mistakes have cost us. IF we had won against the Broncos and Vikes, I think the team's mentality would've done a 180 from what we saw last Sunday, and we could've easily set things straight and given the Failcons an L, leading us to 4-0 by now. It's just the mentality isn't right at the moment, having come from a 15-1 season to a disappointing 1-3. 

Against the Broncos, it took one Gano field goal to make the difference between a 1-3 and 2-2 start to the season as of now, even amid the sloppiness. Our offense had a good showing against one of the better defenses of the NFL, even with the dirty plays. Von Miller was nearly nonexistent until the fourth quarter. Considering how Remmers was mightily handled in the SuperBowl, it was a nice surprise to see him doing considerably better throughout most of the game. Against the Vikings, the difference between Cam throwing it to his safety net receiver or getting an actual safety was the difference in how the mindset of the team would've been, along with other countless penalties and stuff that killed the mood.The Vikings D were just relentless, and I personally believe they'll take place as the number 1 defense this year (then again I'm slightly biased, as I have them as my fantasy defense.) But considering most of their yards came handed in a platter from their ST and Defensive teams, I think our defense has done a considerably decent job so far.

Now granted, against Atlanta, it was straight poor OT play, even considering the OT situation at the time, mentality of the players, and our safeties getting exposed for their lack of veteran presence. Atlanta straight abused us, and we really showed no fire or desire that I had hoped. Now, the corners overall did quite well honestly, it's just missed assignments that killed us. That can be fixed with time, and don't be surprised to get a decent safety coming in the future. Our DE's were non-existent at times, and Kyle Love was the only one who really sparked anything. Although we still have the same percentage of pressuring the QB as last year, we're showing considerably higher blitzing percentage, leaving our secondary more exposed, and risking offenses picking up our blitz'. However, this problem can be fixed with time. Once the secondary starts clicking, expect a lot more trust to be placed there and for us to start handling offenses readily.

The Broncos and the Falcons were both teams that defeated us last year. So obviously they were just as capable of doing it again. Atlanta still had Remmer abuser Beasley, and Remmers was still out of position last Sunday, making the OT situation pretty bad. Denver had a significantly upgraded offense, and they still had their defense. The Vikings are just a really good football team, a LOT like the Broncos from last year. Their offense isn't anything, but holy poo their defense is legit. Their offense didn't even come close to beating us 2 weeks ago, but their defense and special teams struck their hammer. Considering that, we honestly shouldn't be too worried.

Now, looking at the schedule, it's looking quite optimistic. A MNF game against a battered Tampa at home looks like a nice matchup, then the Aints the next week. We should be able to get a decent stride going, and show why we still fire in our bellies. Don't bank on the Panthers yet, I'm sure we'll get back in check.

I love the optimism, I really do. Plus I try to think the same way. But good teams find a way to win and overcome their flaws (for example the 2015 Panthers without their number one reciever). But this year we were suppose to be even better and more experienced but we have regressed in a way that is down right baffling.

Josh Norman shouldnt account for 3 losses this early in the year, I blame poor game planning by the coaches. Is the only thing that I can think of that makes sense.

I think we will get better, but it may be a little to late. Looking at the first four games wouldnt you say that we have gotten progressively worse, not better?

Blueprint to beat the Panthers. Pray they shoot themselves in the foot with continued undisciplined play. 

Yup, that blueprint is definitely out there.

      I’m not mad at Moehrig.  He’s great at what he does.  And to be honest, a lot of my favorite safeties in our history were box-first type guys - Maxie, Minter, Mike Mitchell, Chris Harris…  they’re first and foremost objective was to put people on their backs and coverage was secondary.  There is a place for that.  There is a definite need for that.  Physical guys that set the tone.  So cool, we have that in Moerhig. But what we have lacked for the vast majority of our existence is a true free safety that cleans everything up on the back end.  Sometimes they come in the form of a JOAT, like Peppers.  I think he would be a fantastic compliment to Moehrig’s strengths and weaknesses.  If we don’t go after him, I certainly hope Ransom is given the chance to grow and develop in real-time with real game reps, because what he did in preseason was very encouraging to see.  I hope he can grow into that roaming center fielder with a little bit of an edge to him as an enforcer as well.  He has the tools.  In the meantime, adding Peppers would only help.

      Option 1 is most likely. Even if he kills it this year, it wouldn't be prudent to rush an extension for one good season. If you have to pay him more because you waited another year, then he earned it. And that's OK. Adjust accordingly.

      Cam had the advantage of having a very strong supporting cast his first 2 seasons. Things definitely worsened later on. But those first couple of years can kill a QB. Some never truly recover. If they do recover it takes years, and usually with another team. Trying to learn to be an NFL QB with TEs and WRs that are trying to learn too is a recipe for disaster. Imagine if Cam's rookie season was that 2014 offensive squad. Changes everything! I said it when they moved up in 2023. This team wasn't ready for a rookie QB yet. Anyone that thinks Stroud would have been a lot better is delusional. The correct formula is to build a strong team and then you go get your rookie QB. Not the other way around. BY is going into his third season and we're still trying to put a respectable group of WRs and TEs around him. I think they have the right personnel now. Unfortunately they haven't developed into actual NFL players yet.  This season we should expect consistency and aggressiveness from BY. Mostly for his development but also to DEVELOP his young cast.
