Reality and Gruden

For 4 weeks, in doubt and optimistic for some reason.  Jon Gruden made a statement that was burned and embedded into my brain.  Jon Gruden stated, "...better or worse after the superbowl".

We are worse in all 4 phases of the game.  It's 1 or 2-3 phases not showing up on gameday.  Coaching is reaching/inconsistent, Defense is so so but 1 game in my opinion, special teams needs work and offense doesn't exist (coaching).

Front office though....my God, I can judge all day but can't hate for some reason (last year success).  Gettles, u POS...this year is on u and feels like De Ja Vu.  We have to win out and pray for losses to have any hope.

I hate the fact that we look like another typical statistic in superbowl hangover teams.  Fug U!!!!!!!!!!!!

Gruden was showing us reality, before the game even kicked off, when he had on the TV our 3 rookie DBs and pointing out it wasn't just Norman that was gone, but 3 guys that had been in the league for 10+ years a piece in tillman, harper, and finnegan.

That and he was being kind by not totally destroying Shula and our offense.

This is a 4-12 or 5-11 team. I was thinking 8-8 before this game, but I saw the Raiders, Chargers, falcons, some lions yesterday. Not sure we will those games

Well at least we won't lose to the Lions.   (We don't play them)

Can't get complacent in this league, we did and now we're paying the price

That started with the front office. What message are you sending when you refuse to pay Norman or KK, and then load up on rookie DBs and a rookie DT. There is no way I will ever expect Gettleman to strengthen the team. I hope he shocks me and lands a franchise OT, or a top tier pass rushing DE. It starts in the trenches, right? So, why does it take 4 seasons to make the trenches incomplete.

Great job on the DT and OG starters. Unfortunately, the job has been a joke with the OTs and DEs. You need a complete product .

The league responded, we stayed complacent.

DG and Ron had those bullsh*t grins on their faces after this draft.  All giddy to show they actually did draft for need!  It seems like a huge panic move after our coveted guys (who I REALLY think were Sua & Vonn Bell)

It has been, didn't need to spend big money, but the "excuse " to go young is garbage, basically the excuse the Browns make for sucking for a decade. But not only is he at fault Rivera is to for signing off on such moves

    • There are several posters that only post negative at all times.   8 wins is a big jump from 5 and we still have 2 games.  Jaguars have a much more talented roster than us and have underachieved for years.
    • All of this noise is just setting us up to lose Week 18 and proclaim life's not fair. If there's one thing I know in my 30+ years of watching the Hornets and Panthers, is that the bad guy always wins in the end. A team can be falling apart internally but we will still lose to them. A team's fanbase can be extra shitty and cocky and they will just win anyway. It always happens
    • Well even if we took diverging paths getting there...our overall assessment of Shough is the same (bolded) lol so I guess that's what matters.  What you call "playing at a level that looks like a veteran starter" is the same thing I'm referencing when I talk about his poise.  Although I still wonder how truly "bad" of a team the Saints are.  Their defense is middle-of-the-road, and their offense does have some good pieces (Olave, Juwan Johnson) outside of running back which is the position most everyone agrees is relatively plug-and-play.  I'm not going to pretend to know anything about the majority of NFL team's o-lines lol but I'm assuming Saints are not great there, although Shough's pressure % seems to have been quite low (and steadily improving) over the last four weeks (20 -> 16.7 -> 15.0 -> 13.0) so maybe they've been playing better as of late, or perhaps Shough himself deserves credit for that.   Some of the language I'm hearing about Shough, including talking about how he's way above league average in several categories, makes it sound like Shough is having a rookie season on par with like a CJ Stroud who established himself as basically a Top 5-10 QB his rookie season.  Maybe that's on me though, I don't mean to attribute anything to you that I'm sure you don't agree with.
