DA made some bad decisions but he is what he is at this point. i'm actually having a hard time pinning this loss on anyone besides shula.

I blame ron a tad bit more that Shula. Although Shula deserves his fair share.

That being said I still blame Anderson the most. A goal to go situation in a time game and u throw a pick? Jeez dude.

Doesn't help that DA locked in onto olsen the whole game..

I'm still dumbfounded we cut Bene while Teddy Williams is still here. I mean, I get it if the guy were really contributing on special teams, but he had been inactive for three weeks in favor of undrafted rookie LBs. Even if you take Bene out of the lineup, what's wrong with having depth?

That said, there's plenty of blame to go around, and several candidates if we're basing this only on performance (as the Bene cut allegedly was). Williams, Tolbert, hell Klein had one of the dumbest penalties I've ever seen, all the DEs, GANO, and of course the coaches...just a waste.

Who gets cut now??? teddy williams?? tolbert?? daddy's boy?? Make your guess now and win a piece of that internet pie from me.

True Story. After Teddy Williams had that pass break up and was all pumped about it I said so what Teddy you are a fuging special teams disaster waiting to happen every time, why they even let you on the field is a fuging mystery. My lil bro was laughing at me being so animated.

Very next play Teddy causes a punt muff. He then looked at me like holy poo you know your team!

I blame  DA, Coaching staff, and Defense in that order. Derek Anderson was a turnover machine and killed drives that could have lead to points and put this game away for good. Now, Mike Shula and the coaches don't have a pulse for the game. They had success having Trai Turner and Norwell pulling on sweeps and they decide to abandon it for straight gut plays when Fozzy and CAP where having success in space and there are times when we need to pick up the tempo. Defense folds when it matters most. Again no push from the front 4. When we finally go up by 8 points, we let Tampa Bay drive down the field in 4 plays for a TD and 2 point conversion. Next, on their Final Drive, Tampa Bay had the ball at the 20 yard line and drives 60 yards to get in field goal range. They had to convert about 4 third downs and we helped them with dumb penalties by Klein and Ealy. Overall, blame can be both on both the coaches and players. I put more blame on the coaches because it showed that they are mediocre at best when key starters are out while teams like the Pats and Vikings can keep churning when key starters are out

Shula really has to go. This isn't a knee jerk reaction either. This offense has been stymied since the super bowl. A change is almost a necessity at this point.

And yes Tolbert might be the worst blocking fullback I've ever seen. Most fullbacks hang their hats on their ability to block.

It is almost like some of these guys were trying to lose the game.

    • I am no football savant as has been demonstrated here over and over, but I saw it.  I went for years doing the mock draft thing and researching the players that we might get around our pick, time consuming stuff. And we would get to the draft and trade the pick. All that time, wasted.  So I quit doing that. Also realized I was not a scout and would never be a scout and went to looking the videos and reports After  we picked a guy.  Maybe I would look at the 1st round, but quit that too and just looked after we picked.    When they did that trade I saw Bryce and his size and just ruled him out. Then it got to yeah they are probably going to take him, I relented and looked at some video and got to his pro day. It took me all of a few minutes to see the issues. The footwork. The arm. And the tape of games? The backyard style. I knew, what can I say?  (Also, went down the physical checklist, not a single plus attribute on the NFL level. Arm, speed, size, etc, nothing to offset the negatives. nothing)  I think it was easy for me because I had not watched a single game he played in college, and wasn’t drawn in by the hype. Had no preconceived notions and just looked at it pretty clinically.  I got in here and everyone was going “but look at what he did in college! It is the SEC, if he can do it in the SEC he can do it in the NFL!” Couldn’t reason with hardly anyone.  I don’t think I could tell you which guy would succeed between two prototypical guys with great arms and athleticism, and have no special insight into any of that. My one calling in football scouting was to see the real about what we were about to do. And you still don’t know for sure until they get in a real game in the NFL.
    • Miss Bryce sorely is possibly the most hilarious statement I have read on the Huddle in quite some time.
    • He did only throw 1 pass 20+ in that game. I think he is still struggling to adjust to the NFL. At Alabama he was able to extend plays and play backyard football. That's not only not the style of offense we have been running but his physical skills don't lend themselves to that style of play at this level.  So, the amount of issues he actually has to clean up are WAAAAAY more than I anticipated as a guy that had Bryce #1 on my board in that draft class.  I am just not seeing a reasonable path for him to clean it all up and develop in a reasonable timeframe
