Life is so much easier. I can sit and watch as much or as little as I want, I regained my objectivity and I don't have tens of thousands of dollars invested which has the ability to put you in a very bad place with each loss.

Objectivity allowed me to see the seemingly countless number of missed tackles on Rogers, the obvious decision of the Panthers to run left all night... which worked until the 4th quarter; the incredibly horrid coaching decision of a 3-running play, 3 and out series leading up to the 2-minute warning with 3 TOs and a tie game on the line. 

Lack of emotional investment allowed me to go to bed once TB got a couple first downs after the Panthers punt and gifting the Bucs a couple time outs along the way. 

Lack of financial investment meant I wasn't at the game, but admittedly feeling just a little bad for the folks who bought my PSLs, who had to watch the Carolina Panthers cram a shitload of bad decisions and lack of decisions into less than 2 minutes of NFL game clock (equates to about 15 minutes of real time). 

Wearing no rose-colored glasses means I can see a team that is trying very hard to find a fighting spirit somewhere, find some fire; but it all seems so manufactured and, aside from a couple players, I don't see a lot of players doing much more than going through the motions as if they're entitled to another division title. And I don't see a coach who lends anything to this team once the opening kickoff gets the game underway.

Yeah I'm in the same boat as OP. 

Im not planning to see anymore live games this year, giving up my PSL tickets (to other panther fans). Not traveling to any other away games (last year went to 3). 

I also have no more expectations of the team. Yes I want them to play well, but will not let emotions take the joy out of watching these guys play. 

I actually fell asleep in the 3rd qtr last night and woke up to watch the last few mins of the 4th qtr. After the game, went to bed and slept like a baby.

I would give anything to live in Charlotte and go to every home game. I am going to our Thursday night game. I have to plan 6 months ahead to get vacation time from work (which is really hard to pick a game to go to due to my work schedule and how hard it is to schedule vacation) book a hotel and but plane tickets. This is not a cheap trip. It will be my second time doing and and I can't wait. I don't care how bad we are this is my team and I will watch every game. You guys are lucky to be PSL owners and shame on you for giving them up like this. I would love to have them.

And I just bought a Cam Newton long sleeve shirt.  If you think I'm fair weather, or a fan that's spent thousands of dollars on tickets is a fair weather, so be it.  But, I simply don't agree.

I look at my life as a cupcake. Its good, I got some good things going. I am at a good law school, I got a great GF, I have a loving family, I'm healthy, etc. Panthers are the sprinkles on that cupcake, it makes that cupcake that much tastier, but the cupcake is still good minus the sprinkles. I learned a while back not to let the Panthers winning or losing dictate my day to day life. I'll be elated when they win and pissed when they lose. I'll go to games when I'm home and buy a jersey or two, but I'm, not living or dying on this team.

I grew up in WV, I wish we had even a garbage team to go attend every Sunday then just pull for the regional team. This team is in my backyard and I'll support them every year unless the ownership turns their back on the fans and commitment to winning

I think it's a little brash to call it fair weathered or spoiled. It's not like I said I'm done with the team. 

I think it is smart to have the right expectations of what this team will do. Unfortunately I have had to lower those expectations this year. I have already attended a couple games, including an away game this year and now I'm done. I'll still watch games on TV and have interest on what's going on day to day, but that's it. 

Not every "fan" needs to drive up with their custom Panthers tailgate trailer with their whole families chest painted. Some people are content on supporting the Panthers from their living rooms.

I will emotionally and financially invest in something that will give me a good return. And unfortunately that's not this years Panthers.

I get a chuckle out of how involved financially or emotionally people get tied into sports in general......I enjoy sports as an occasional entertainment if I have the time..........never spend a penny on any tickets or apparel. Just watch on TV what I can get and enjoy it when I can.

Getting all wrapped up in this stuff doesn't make sense and is not prudent to do to begin with.......

Your an excellent example of a simple fan (which I alluded to in the above post). Not too emotionally or financially involved, just watch the game for what it is and get on with life. To be honest, I'm jealous of your approach, I wish I could be the same way.  

I do slightly disagree about never spending any money on apparel/games, but to each his own. 

My point people should support the Panthers in the best way they can. At the end of the day, it's only entertainment and nothing more.

      Bryce and Dave will determine how many games this team wins next year. It’s not on the WRs. The RBs. LBs. This is about 2 things: 1. Can Bryce continue to come up big in the few key downs that decide most games?  2. Can Canales evolve his play calling to counter punch like the big boys do. Half time adjustments.  teams that score 30+ points on the regular win more games than not. That’s on Bryce and Dave. The offense is top 10 at every position group, save for TE and QB. A baller TE is gravy but not crucial when the receivers are dudes.  The defense is the defense. It’ll be better this season, hopefully by a large margin, but Dave/Bryce is really where it’s at.

      Normally I'd wholeheartedly agree with this. But I feel like teams figured out this offense after the Raiders game. Bryce was so inept the first 2 games that we couldn't really even run the offense. Dalton's first game showed what we had. But after that game, coverages got a lot tighter and windows were smaller. When Bryce came back in, his ability to extend plays made a big difference. It's really difficult to stop a QB that can beat/escape 1on1 tacklers. It puts a lot of pressure on the defense when you blitz. And he was completing throws in tight coverage with anticipation. Point being Bryce wasn't throwing to wide open receivers that were schemed open by the offense. Occasionally yes. But not often.

      With the additions we've made to our roster combined with the state of the division and the conference as a whole there is no excuse for this team not to make a legitimate push for 8-9 wins. Anything less is honestly inexcusable. There will be no more free passes for being a doormat in this iteration of the league where even mediocre teams are competing for playoff spots.
