Beason tells Newton to stop being childish

You see, I know all the tricks, I know people very well. Some do not and cannot see through the BS. The media are here to get a story, and if they cannot do that, they will make one. Folks are trying hard to squeeze some controversy out of the Pack, we give them nothing so they make up their own stories. We are panicking, Rodgers is on the downswing, etc. The media are not really good people, but they tend to judge the morals of others when their sole job is to exploit others.

The media is not a player's friend, they are there to squeeze controversy out of you, and when you give them simple answers, they hate it hence makes it look as if there is a time limit for interviews. He was not fined so he did his job, period. He works for the NFL, not Jon. The NFL was pleased, which is all that matters.

Stop being the guy trying to tell his co-workers how to do their job although you have no authority and they are following their job description to the letter. He answered questions and left. A I missing something? I thought that was what you are supposed to do? If he had a smile on his face while doing this, it would have been a non-story.

Jon is butthurt, didn’t he play for you guys? Throwing people under the bus, he fits right in with Sheli and the Giants.

This place reminds me of a quote from Riddick in Pitch Black.

Quote

I truly don't know what's gonna happen when the lights go out, Carolyn, but I do know, once the dying starts, this little psycho fug family of ours is gonna rip itself apart.

I think its sad the media focus on irrelevant poo and the people just fall right into it. Im seeing fans of the Panthers even raising questions about Cam in the locker room, poo even the media isn't doing that and I'm more embarrassed by that than the Panthers being 1-5 after just reaching the SB the year prior. I'm sure the players see Cam getting his head smashed in and still fighting to lead us to victory. I'm sure the players see Cam lead us back from 21-0 on the road while you guys ignore it. What the hell is the matter with you all?

I've never seen expectations from a QB like I've seen from Cam in my entire tenure of watching football. He's supposed to be mad, glad, sad, happy, win football games, lose in a certain way, not have fun on the field, be serious on the field, speak on controversial topics, being pro-black lives matter, pro-all lives matter and Cam honestly needs to start telling people to kiss his ass. I respect him for keeping it professional. He not out here cussing people out and taking the Marshawn Lynch route, which he easily could.

When I said Cam Newton is the Allen Iverson of the NFL, I meant it. It all starts being drafted number 1 and being labeled as the savior to a losing franchise.

I could be wrong, but you had a problem with Cam's celebrations. You also have a problem with the way he dresses, if he's not completely accurate on his throws, as I know I've seen you mention him throwing high this year. You've got a problem with how he conducts his press conference. You're a guy Cam will never be able to impress, and there's a lot of guys like you not only outside of the fanbase, but in it. He'll never be able to please you or them. Honestly, I hope he's not trying to.

Man, I have been impressed with Cam, again and again and again. Great athlete, the best of the new generation QBs in the league and he will be the one others will be judged against in the future. I also am a big fan of his community involvement. Heck, I bought my kid a Cam jersey to wear and I don't put other people's branded merchandise on my kids lightly.

However, the guy is a QB in this league, not an infallible saint. He can be criticized at times for throwing high over his targets. It's a problem he's had for years and he's getting much better at controlling it (this is a common problem with strong armed- QBs and he's one of the strongest ever). When he gets rattled, though, he starts sailing them. Once in a while, we're going to bring that up, if not me, then someone else will. Heck, even Tom Brady fans have something to say about him once in a while I guess.

And yeah, once in a while, the whole Super Cam thing wears a bit thin. Sometimes it also brings the stadium alive. And yeah, I think last year there were times that I felt the team acted like a bunch of high school kids on spring break at the ends of the game. You know why? It's actually bad sportsmanship. It's bush league. And karma does come back around.

Look, I'm a fan of Cam's. But my real allegiance is with the Panthers as a team. I was a fan before Cam came here, I'm a fan while he's here and I'll cheer for him every time. And someday, he won't be here, but I'll keep cheering for the Panthers then, too. And if our QB acts like a jerk or a big baby, or even just has a case of the can't help its, I might post something about it.

It's just my opinion, on a forum board, and it's not worth 2 cents. But then again, neither is your opinion.

Cam is who he is. Accept him as he is, or don't. Cam plays the game with raw emotion. At least he's not OBJ. It doesn't help that Cam dislikes the media but he's never gonna be the guy who follows suit.

I would add a media that has at every single turn tried to crucify him, has ran every negative story about him they could find, ignored any and all the positive about him. Can't say I blame him at all for his distain of the media. Belicheat is notoriously tight lipped and cagey with the media but he gets a pass. Why? Cam doesn't play gracious host to the sheer stupidity of questions he get and they write him off as pouty and immature. Love Jon beason but he's wrong on this on I think.

They never really like you, they tolerate you. Expect you to save a franchise/city and conform to what they want you to be. It sucks these are once every blue moon athletes/personalities. Never fully appreciated until they're long gone.

Can't really disagree.  Although I couldn't care less how my QB handles PRESS CONFERENCES he does pout and act like a punk during games.

How specifically does he "act like a punk"?

Is he cussing out his teammates on the sidelines, or chasing down a ref yelling expletives like Tom Brady? Or throwing a playbook tablet on the ground like Aaron Rodgers followed by an obligatory discount double check celebration when he finally reaches the end zone?

People don't know what they want from these players. But the double standards in effect are bizarre.

I would rather him do all those things.  All of those things show that he's pissed and wants to win.  Noticeable to everyone on the sideline.   He just sits there staring at the ground like he doesn't care.  I know everyone is different but thats what it looks like and I'm a fan with a game day Cam jersey so I can imagine what outsiders thing.

I've had a couple buddies on the team over the years and early on the consensus in the locker room was he's a bitch.   I hate to be the one to tell you.

This narrative about his sideline behavior has proven to be complete nonsense already. I'm not even going to bother with that.

Being pissed doesn't really have anything to do with winning. You can be pissed off all game, but if you allow it to consume you, it doesn't matter, and you'll still lose.

As far as whether or not he "wants to win", if that's even remotely in question to you at this point in his career while he literally does flips over defensive lines on his way into the end zone, either you are simply trolling, or delusional.

I can't speak for your "buddies", but his teammates have repeatedly publicly backed him. Especially Greg Olsen, who has often talked at length about just what witnessing Newton leave it all on the field for even just a few yards to keep drives alive does for his teammates.

Can't wait until Cam ditches this unappreciating city and we're stuck cheering for the caucasio mclunch pail superhero that you fools are clamoring for. Kudos to whoever used the A.I example.

If Newton does leave for whatever reason, I'm just going to park on the huddle as much as possible and watch the sad, tear-streaked little faces when 2nd/3rd round blue collar QB Caucasio McLunchpail fails to take the team anywhere. - @Sloth

still one of my favorite posts on the huddle
