NFL just now declared that kickers are open season.. as if the whole cam debacle wasn't bad enough for the NFL?? why isn't goodell being held accountable for this fugging shitshow that the NFL has now turned into?? enlighten me please.

Goodell's real job is simple.  He isn't in place for us or the players....he is in place for the owners and to make them money.  From that perspective, he had been on a roll.

How is he making the NFL money if the ratings are down 20% or more this season?? if anything it should be making the owners livid with him.

you are just looking at the present 8 weeks.

Coming into this season, NFL was killing it.  Record high stuff.  Dominating the NFLPA.  All the things the owners wanted.  So he had been killing it from their perspective.

I suspect ownership will evaluate things after the election ends.  Once they don't feel they are on the path he had them on.....then Goodell will feel heat (which he never has except from fans and media....owners don't mind if he takes a beating from that group as long as they sit pretty)

This is a really unfortunate truth.  Why in the world business men would think ignoring the consumer would continue to bring in record profits is just plain baffling.

Sending Goodell out like a sacrificial offering worked for awhile, but now that the game has visibly changed, its core consumers are now disenfranchised thus marginalizing the growth in other areas or demographics.

Looking from a purely business perspective it's suicidal at worst, negligent at best.  The NFL is still a beast and has very loyal support, but it can't continue in this way without serious ramifications.

Yep, and they pay him very well, to make them even more money.

Most successful businesses (think fortune 500 cable companies, cellphone etc) have mastered the art of fuging their customers while still making a killing. They honestly don't care as long as they make a profit. They are in the market of wants not needs. You don't need cable or a cell phone but everyone wants one. You don't have to be a fan of the NFL. I am sure they have market research that probably shows something like when you lose 1 fan you gain 5 new ones so fug any type of loyalty. Basically boils down to market share and capitalism.

    • FLA showed everyone it’s not about superstars. they bullied the best line in the NHL into obscurity. they played hard, were in the right positions, and ran over everything that got in their way.
    • That’s really not what you said and when I even expressed doubt as to your intentions with the post you doubled down and remained unclear on whether you were trying to drag Dean Smith for whatever reason. You just got the facts wrong, which if you don’t follow the local college programs like you say then maybe you just were mistaken and thought Smith didn’t win championships or have legit superstars, and that is ok, but you just doubled down when my first post was more corrective than anything. I’m not sure what you expect posting objectively false things like “RBA has a lot of wins with nothing to show for it like Dean Smith” (paraphrasing) on a message board with plenty of UNC fans. I’m not taking it as a personal affront, we can agree to disagree, Dean Smith’s legacy fortunately will not be affected by this conversation. Screw the (Florida) Panthers?
    • Bring in the free agents and trades.  Florida is the best team and unless Tulsky makes it happen, it’s more of the same…which isn’t bad…but it’s time to win a goddamn cup.
