Is Shula to blame or the return of KB?

Lets say both are to blame and its just one struggle (lets ignore the oline for 1 sec because its more than just that)

I'm going to slightly take up for Shula here and say I don't believe last year was an anomaly. I think Shula benefited from not having a WR he "has" to get involved. Now you can blame Shula for struggling with a number 1 receiver, but that's what it was. 2014 was also a struggle with KB so signs point to the disconnect being there

Is it time to stop the traditional 1,2,3 WR offense? Is it time to stop treating Benji as the number 1? Is it time to involve Philly, Bersin and maybe even Byrd in to this offense, maybe go back to a 3,3,3 offense giving Cam more options instead of just always following his number 1 read first then his next? Cam is best in a offense with a quicker pace, more options, and he makes the decisions. Can this be done with Benji? This offense gets stuck in 2nd halves of games and its one reason we're 3-6. Its almost as if defenses have 2 game-plans for the 1st half and 2nd half

I blame Cam for using him as a crutch for poor decision making and I blame Shula for not factoring this into the gameplan and drawing up more effective plays. Smitty was the same deal but a guy that can get open for a deep ball is a more effective panic button for Cam than guy he has to hit between the numbers in the middle of traffic.

Gettleman shares blame too because there's no force feeding Benji if the o-line was competent.

KB is a huge asset. however he can be a dumbass. all of his mistakes are stupid ones resulting from not concentrating. he needs to get his head in the game with some consistency and we'll be fine.

One of his knocks coming out was drops, and lapses in concentration.  Sometimes they get better....most times not.

I'm still a huge fan of his though....can be a game changer if used correctly.

Can't really ignore the oline they were horrible in run blocking, which made us one dimensional majority of the game, KB is only effective running certain routes like slants and hitches, we need to upgrade the running game or get a true #1 wr. Fix that and the offense will be worlds better. Until then can't really fault the oc

    • All these rankings have more to do with the writers love or hate for a team.  Morgan, IMO, has done a really good job at building this team.  Yeah, there are a couple of whiffs but for the most part he has done quite well drafting and signing free agents.  22 is a bit low but it's a stupid opinion based on how little a writer knows about the Panthers.
    • When I saw that I was thinking the same thing.  If Evero does have a great season and gets hired as a head coach I wouldn't mind see McD as our DC.  If we do poorly as a team, I definitely would want him to be the front runner for HC.
    • But it's not about not upsetting a player under contract, it's about not causing a rift in the locker room. The players love Bryce, whether as a person or a player doesn't matter.  You can't spend a Top 10 pick on a QB and then still start your #1 overall pick in the last year of their contract. That act alone will cause a massive locker room rift/distraction that would be unavoidable.  Some players will question why you "wasted" a Top 10 pick on a QB you're not going to start instead of someone who can help right away.  While others will question why we are keeping Bryce around for the season when it's clear he's not the future guy at that point. It would just make for a bad start to the rookie's career while causing locker room distractions.  Again, I'd bet this has never happened in this league before with any 1st round QB, let alone the #1 overall pick, and there is a reason for it, which is that it would be epically stupid to do. And I used the Vikings as the example as they're the closest I can think of, because again, there isn't a direct comparison as nobody has ever done it because it's that dumb of an idea (no offense lol).
