Klay Thompson *******breaking news********* read my second post

I suspected it was only a matter of time before things fell apart there chemistry wise, and Klay was the guy I pinned as the one who would want out.  Like I said when KD signed there...  There was only one ball to go around, and it is a huge drop to go from the #2 option, to the #3.

I know Scalabrine backtracked, but where there is smoke, there is usually fire.  You can see the frustration at times on Klay's face during games.  Now, that being said, I would only do MKG + filler and picks, but IDK that they would do that.  It makes sense for them though.  Green would then move back to the third option, and they still have plenty offense with Steph, KD, and Green as their top 3 guys.  MKG would provide them a lockdown defender, so KD wouldn't have to expend much energy defensively, and they honestly don't need his offense.  Furthermore, he could essentially fill Iguodala's role (minus the outside shooting) as a extra ball handler, lockdown defender, and energy guy.  MKG also would likely excel more offensively there with his game as-is, because their shooters spread the floor and they love to get out and run.  He'd be a perfect fit.

On our end, Klay is no slouch defensively either.  He isn't MKG, but he's really good.  And he gives us another shooter/scorer to pair with Kemba and Batum.  He would provide more spacing for a guy like Hibbert and/or Zeller (if he wasn't a part of the deal).

I love MKG, but the health issues are scary, so if we could use him as a centerpiece for a deal for a guy like Klay, I'd be all over it.  But, for the same reason I would want him to the be the centerpiece in the deal, I could see other teams not wanting to take a chance.

Yea not sure why people keep actin like Klay doesn't play defense. He's not James Harden

Or we could keep this unit intact and stay on a pace to win 72% of the games.

Yall amaze me sometimes. We a having a historic start and run and some of you are still dissatisfied.

This. Unity is something extremely undervalued in all sports. We are finally good, let's not fug anything up.

    • I originally hated the Miller deal but with the cap projected to rise nearly $10M next season the Canes struck some pretty good deals between Miller and Ehlers. Most of the team is locked in for the next few years. Nikishin will need an extension probably in the $6M AAV range. And Blake will need one if we don’t move him. Personally I’d move Blake, picks, and any prospect not named Nikishin/Nadeau/Artamonov for McTavish as I don’t see any any of the big time players moving teams next year. Realistically the Hurricanes should just target Gustavsson next year to fix the goal tending issue. But I’m all for moving Blake, picks, and prospects for McTavish this year. Ehlers - Aho - Jarvis Svechnikov - McTavish - Stankoven Martinook - Staal - Carrier Hall - Kotkaniemi - Robinson Jost - Jankowski Slavin - Miller Nikishin - Chatfield Gostisbehere - Walker Reilly Andersen Kochetkov I’d do Blake, Felix-Unger-Sorum, and 27 2nd for McTavish.
    • Very true on the length but stuff like this is never where we shine. We aren’t a good team at drafting.
    • Homerism aside, the more I see from Dan, the more impressed I am.  His player evaluation instincts. Last year his 2 premier FA signings, Hunt and Lewis COMPLETELY changed the line and I have a feeling his success in choosing blue chip guys will continue.  Look at the panthers’s rep for FA signings in the past. By and large, it’s been guys 1 year past their prime who had an injury and suckered our GM in to a crippling contract. We never get nice things. When was the last time this team signed 2 young blue chip studs  in the same offseason to contracts worthy of their impact? Ever?  Im telling y’all, players respect and trust Morgan.
