What a gloomy victory

usually i'd tell you a win is a win, enjoy it, but i didn't enjoy this win at all.

From Luke's injury to the absolute meltdown in the 2nd half and the horrendous conservative playcalling by our coaching staff that single handedly let the Saints back in the game is troubling to say the least.

if we want any shot of getting back in this thing, the coaching staff needs to make some drastic changes in their approach

The stadium was definitely holding its breath with Luke down. And that continued until the clock said 00:00.

It also felt like we were playing against the refs tonight, especially in the 2nd half. That was roughing the passer on CJ?? That wasn't pass interference against Stewart??? That wasn't blatant holding when Coleman was pulled down by the hand by a blocker??? A NO d-lineman runs into Chris Scott at center before the ball is snapped & that's not defensive encroachment?? We get hit with block-in-the-back & NO doesn't??? Refs completely ignored all the offensive holding too.

Well, to be honest, that CJ play wasn't smart. He didn't do much, but, he didn't need to do any of that.

And there is no pass interference behind the line of scrimmage.

Other than that. Fans complain about the refs after every game. Bitching about the refs is not exclusive to the Panthers.

Thanks! I didn't know that about no PI behind the line of scrimmage. There was a lot of ref booing tonight so it wasn't just me, a single fan, feeling this way. And Brees has perfected the art of flopping.

Cam might need to learn how to flop around. That RTP Drew got, I've seen worse. Even Chris Collingsworth and Al Michaels mentioned the bad calls. Rodney did as well so it's not just us.

    • Option 1 is most likely. Even if he kills it this year, it wouldn't be prudent to rush an extension for one good season. If you have to pay him more because you waited another year, then he earned it. And that's OK. Adjust accordingly.
    • Cam had the advantage of having a very strong supporting cast his first 2 seasons. Things definitely worsened later on. But those first couple of years can kill a QB. Some never truly recover. If they do recover it takes years, and usually with another team. Trying to learn to be an NFL QB with TEs and WRs that are trying to learn too is a recipe for disaster. Imagine if Cam's rookie season was that 2014 offensive squad. Changes everything! I said it when they moved up in 2023. This team wasn't ready for a rookie QB yet. Anyone that thinks Stroud would have been a lot better is delusional. The correct formula is to build a strong team and then you go get your rookie QB. Not the other way around. BY is going into his third season and we're still trying to put a respectable group of WRs and TEs around him. I think they have the right personnel now. Unfortunately they haven't developed into actual NFL players yet.  This season we should expect consistency and aggressiveness from BY. Mostly for his development but also to DEVELOP his young cast.
    • It is goofy how some people hate Bryce so much that they're flat out lying to try and remain entitled to their pessimism. It's insanity. Most fans are realists and eagerly awaiting the season to see if we get pre- or post-benching Bryce to start the season and how much he is able to do with some young and developing weapons. Many of us understand that these young guys are going to have growing pains on the job as well as the new defense, but the fans with all of the excuses for why Bryce can't be successful are pounding the no excuses drum. Personally, I'd prefer the Keep Pounding drum.
