Odd jerseys in random places?

Recommended Posts

Yup...when I was on Vacation in Mexico last October.  Saw some old guy wearing a Luke Kuechly jersey....of course I had to talk to the guy and he knew his sh*t when it came to the team.  I saw him about 3 other times at the resort and each time he had on a different article of clothing that was Panther related.  I am sure there were other NFL fans at the resort but I didn't personally see any other clothing that was related to the team.  Odd....I hardly ever see Panther fans in Upstate SC, much less Mexico when I am on vacation.

I wear an authentic Biakabutuka jersey to watch games all the time, and living in Michigan I get a decent amount of comments on it.

Went to the game in 2011 when we came to Detroit, had some good natured back and forth heckling with the guy in front of me for a while.  Then he happened to turn around at a time I was looking behind me and saw I was wearing a Biakabutuka jersey and he said how awesome that was, that he was a Michigan grad and loved him back in the day.

Wore it to the bar just a couple weeks ago for a game and someone came up to me and said they loved the jersey then too.

Where you at in Mich. I grew up in Alpena, mover to Davison, then went to MSU. How did you become a Panthers fan? I moved to Spartanburg 30 years ago, so I was here when the team got started. It is a different feeling when you are in at the beginning of a franchise, than growing up a Lions fan.

Also, I have met Mr. Richardson a few times, So that makes it easier to call the Panthers my own. Well, me and a couple million of my closest friends.

I see tons of Game Cock, and Clemson garb. But very little Panthers. It is so bad, that when I do see someone in Panther gear I say something to them. Nowadays I say #Keep Pounding to anyone in Panther gear.

Most people I run into in Greenville / Spartanburg my first question is always "Are you a real fan or just wearing the clothing?"  9 times out of 10 they are just wearing the clothing ( gift, or whatever reason ) and even the fans who claim to be fans do not know jack sh*t about the team when you start talking to them.  I think I have actually ran into only a few people who actually knew anything about the team.  Most of them get a scared look when I start talking about the team because they literally couldn't tell you if we won or lost the last game that was played.

Sad but too true. I see that all the time. It is the reason I only point and say #Keep Pounding. They either smile and wave, or just look at you like they can't see you.

It takes all kinds.

I'm in the metro Detroit area

Never really was a Lions fan as a little kid, just had random favorite players.  My dad took me to the HOF the summer before the Panthers first year, I was a kid then, like 7 or so and thought they had a cool logo and colors so I got a mini helmet and followed them a little that first year (hard to do as a young kid and no Internet back then).

I grew up a Michigan fan and Biakabutuka was my favorite player, so when the Panthers drafted him going into that second season I was hooked and been a die hard Panthers fan ever since.

Yeah, Timmy was a beast. Really too bad his career was cut short.

We won the "Greatest Unis in the Universe" so we have that going for us. Although, I still love that Honolulu and Silver of the Lions.

Ah yea, the pre interwebz days. Where most of your news was from News Papers. So you got precious little info on any team not in your Division. If you got that at all. I can't remember any sports radio back then, if you can call the early 90s, back then.
