I think there's almost no doubt that within a couple years, Gettleman will let go either Cam, Olsen or Luke. Just a hunch based on his strategies and willingness to fug up a good thing

IMO Rivera has had enough recent success to probably buy another year, but the leash is not going to be very long for him, the one thing he has always done well is keep the locker room in his corner - that may have changed last night. I am not sure JR values the money going out the door if he cans Rivera as much as he does a SB in his lifetime - and each year that passes that window gets smaller.

If we started getting blown out every week after the bye, then the narrative makes more sense to me. Instead, we had plenty of close games which, quite frankly, we had no business even being in considering how much attrition we've had and continue to take. A team can only hold together so long before it completely unravels and there's no coaching staff in the world that can do anything about it.

And just to be clear, again, I'm not saying the staff hasn't had their shortcomings but I just cannot see how anyone could've salvaged this season. Seriously, does anyone here thinks we could win a playoff game in our current shape? I try to be an optimist but man, I'd bet money against my own team in that scenario.

Going to take a strong stance here unlike I usually do. I agree he likely won't be fired. 

BUT 

He should be. We've been widely inconsistent under Rivera, the shortcomings of Shula's gimmicky offense have been exposed and he has LOST the locker room. I promise you. 

Rivera is an old school, military style coach. That doesn't resonate with younger guys (for better or worse). Our MVP and starting QB- the only hope our franchise has for a Super Bowl- has lost respect for him. It may not fall all at once but the foundation is crumbling and it won't stop now. 

I know this seems ludicrous coming off a 15-1 season and Super Bowl appearance but the NFL is finnicky. People have short termed memories and players are no exception to this. We need fresh blood, now- and not 4 years from now when Cam and Luke are finishing their prime.

Keep paying Ron to be DC and bring in a progressive HC that has his own OC and ST coaches.  Sadly JR needs to fug off and let this team evolve.  The ole days are over, we aren't the Steelers of yesteryear

Good coaches find a way, and getting rid of shitty OCs is a start.

I think so too.  I believe Rivera is going to give the injury bug as the excuse for our lame OC.  At this point, If he won't fire Shula than I hope DG cans him.

I hope we don't fire him. I'd hate for us to start all over again. What I would like is for Shula to be replaced by Ken Dorsey.
