What will a Gettleman post-season presser sound like...

There's plenty of blame to go around for our very disappointing season, and I'm just wondering what a Dave Gettleman presser will sound like;

Will he take at least some responsibility for the losing season and lack of talent at certain positions that has lingered for years.... probably not

Will he blame the losing season on injuries, rookie learning curve and/or the salary cap... probably so

What do you guys think?

"It's not always pretty, but we're always building for the future to be sustainable.  We're gonna shop at Zales this offseason and we're gonna lock down our best players"

Then he'll proceed to cut a big name player that everyone loves without a fallback plan, struggle to resign KK, and his big offseason aquisition will be a 3rd string long snapper that will be cut by the end of training camp.

This is not how we expected to season to finish .... injuries ... injuries ... injuries  <burp> ... can only have so many guys on the roster ... big learning curve for the young guys but they really came along .... will look at every position to make the team better ... blah, blah, blah.

This offseason will illustrate whether the GM job is too big / cerebral for him.

Outside not drafting a DE and SS, not much is his fault.

- Oher is likely done in the NFL.

- Kalil and Gino went to IR.

- Williams is hurt, forcing Turner to play OT while regressing.

- Cam getting targeted by opposing defenses.

- Benjamin and Ealy acting like high school kids.

- Gano missing easy FGs and XPs.

- Kuechly receiving a scary concussion (forcing him out of the rest of season)

- Short being invisible for the first half of the campaign.

The buck stops at unfortunate injuries and horrible coaching. Not lack of talent.

Exactly.  He assembled some talent and I'm sure he'll bring in more.  Unfortunately two key guys got hurt (Oher and Kalil) that in my opinion changed everything. Missing those two in particular killed our offensive continuity, caused major re-shuffling on the line, hindered our ability to sustain drives and wear the other team down, etc. and subsequently put more pressure on the defense.   We weren't going 15-1 again with those two, but I bet we're 8-5 and in the hunt.

Dave needs to get in his time machine and make sure we don't pay big money to guys who are getting hurt next year.  Either that or just sign all-pros to back them up just in case.

When you go from 6th in Passing in to bottom of the league with different players.... yea how dare those coaches. That injury shtick is overblown

My god the defense is the reason we're in this whole. Specifically the secondary. That's on Dave 100%

    • You're assuming just as well.   Morgan and Canales were hired 3 days apart.  I believe it was partially due to their connections in Seattle.  i believe Tepper wanted some familiarity with his GM and HC.  It is so easy to sit back and arm-chair QB over draft picks.  You don't know what the philosophy was going into the 2024 draft.  I believe Canales and Morgan were drafting for the future.  XL and Brooks point to that philosophy. Name me one GM that is 100% on draft picks.  Just one.  You're not going to find one.    I think year one picks weren't for what can you do for me now but Potential.   XL hasn't lived up to the hype of a 1st rounder.  I think we all can agree on that. However, there still is hope he comes around.  What I believe they saw in him was his speed after the catch.  He needs to get more consistent but when he gets the ball you kind of hold your breath just a second because if he gets free, he's gone.  The Brooks pick was a signing for the future, and no one could have guessed he would re-injure the same ACL.  This makes the pick look bad but Dallas was ready to draft him later that same round.  IMO we'll have to see what happens next season before we can call this a bust. Wallace has improved each season and for a third rounder has done well.  Sanders has shown flashes and considering the pick in the 4th round it wasn't a bad pick.  His sophomore season IMO was a little bit more productive.  Smith-Wade has been a good addition and has played well.  For a 5th round pick to get as much playing time as he has.  Most picks below round 3 should take a couple of years to get up to speed.  He's been a decent player.  Crumedy, no comment We turned Barrett into Jackson.  This was an amazing move and basically got a starting CB for a 7th round pick.  Pretty shrewd if you ask me. Coker, maybe the best Free Agent signing of the 2024 draft class. So, in short, you can't say that the draft was a bust.  It isn't a home run but all but one are still on the team and outside of Brooks have made contributions to wins.  2025 draft class has been much better with almost every pick making contributions this season.  Now take Fitterer's two years and compare them to Morgan and tell me that they have the same philosophy.
    • He hasn’t led crap, he’s on loaded teams and a piece of the puzzle. And he’s he has improved drastically but it took the ultimate QB whispers in Shanahan and KOC. You put him on this Panther team and he’s back to normal Darnold
    • Slavin and Jarvis week to week. Florida cheap shots took out our two best players.  I’d start KK so he can beat the brakes off someone.
