Sad news-update

Just found out that my brother in law, Danny has a mass on his pancreas.  Biopsy will probably be tomorrow.  He was so sick i thought he should have been put in hospital Friday...don't think his doc made a good decision.  My sister had to take him to ER last night. With the labwork he had Friday very close to liver failure.

Danny is a great guy.  One of those guys everyone likes...very kind and thoughtful. He has 2 grown children (young adults)  Please send your positive thoughts, prayers, or whatever his way. This is terrible.

Thanks guys.  Looks like now it will be Friday before they can do the procedure to stage it...see if it has spread already. Did a procedure today to open up the bile ducts to get him some relief.  So hard on him and my sister to have to do all this waiting.  Hoping for no spread yet so they can remove it surgically.

Thanks all.  Diagnosis is pancreatic cancer..plan is to start chemo..try to shrink the tumor and then do surgery if that is successful.  It will be the whipple procedure.  Sounds like he has a good surgeon and oncologist...they also seem to be compassionate people who are very supportive of him getting a consult at a major medical center.  He is going to Vanderbilt next week and they will coordinate treatment with the local oncologist.

No one has mentioned stages yet, but sounds like it at least is not stage 4. Always hoping for the best. He and my sister have been through hell for the past couple of weeks.  Tough times ahead...the fight has begun.

A crisis tonight...he is on the way to Vanderbilt hospital now.  Had a consult there previously.  Hoping this crisis is because of poor GI treatment....bile duct stent and not directly the cancer.  That is the best we can hope for.  Please send some positive energy.
