Well I guess you missed the point I was making in favor of Luke. Op states there's no difference from the 9th pick to 12th. The difference can be Luke drafted 9th and Fletcher Cox drafted 12th. Both great players, but that's what a win can potentially cost you

Occasionally a couple of spots in the draft order does make a difference, but draft picks, even first round picks, are such iffy things, that normally a spot or two doesn't matter.   For example, as bad as we might need an offensive tackle, would you rather have Star or Luke Jockel?

That being said, while I would rather end the season on a positive note, I won't be terribly upset if we lose.

Oh know this isn't a fair comparison. I would take Luke over anyone in that draft no matter where they were drafted.

lets look at a different year

The first game of the 2017 preseason. We're IR'ing guys left and right, but we're still going to trot a banged up Cam Newton out there one more time to take one last beating just for good measure.  Makes sense.

Well at this point the offense is still under evaluation I would assume. Not that Cam is under evaluation, but you need to look at all the moving parts with him in it. Only way to do that is with Cam playing.

I agree. I see no reason to risk Newton injuring himself worse.

It may be at the point the point that he is going to have surgery after the season regardless so he can't actually make it worse from a long term perspective. Similar to Luke last year.

IF that's the case, he should have been operated on Monday (Sunday WAS Christmas, so I'll give him a break). 2 weeks extra recovery before OTAs.  SBLII  Wooo!
