Another name (Panthers eliminated) lined up for multiple HC job interviews: Carolina DC Sean McDermott. Andy Reid and Ron Rivera disciple.

I just don't see him getting a HC gig. I could be wrong but I think teams are going to give too much of the past defensive success to Ron as opposed to McDermott.

Like the fact that they throw in "Andy Reid" like he really helped Sean...all in all Sean was basically a scapegoat in Philly and was run out of town by Andy

McDermott is a good coach but he did some terrible decision making this year...

He's been desperate for a head coaching gig for awhile. Reminds me of Rob Chudzinksi in that regard. If he's that concerned about it, by all means, see ya.

To be fair, it's probably the goal of most young coordinators.  Occasionally you find a great coordinator who is happy with simply being a coordinator, but most coaches worth having probably have the ambition to one day have an opportunity to run the show himself one day.

I don't understand when people get mad about a guy wanting an opportunity to seek a promotion and better his situation for himself and his family.

If this were several years ago, I would probably align with your train of thought here.

But the league now? Coordinators turned head coaches are far more likely to see their dream turned into a nightmare as these franchises routinely chew guys up, and spit them right back out. Some even only one year later.

That's the reality.
