Do you believe Cam can return to MVP form?

All Cam needs to do is get a defense and protection up front.

Cam is the same dude overall that won the MVP.   He has to be put in a position where he can succeed.   Cam's lack of accuracy is one of the most skewed topics IMO on Cam.

Give Cam an above average O-line that can give him adequate protection and watch the magic happen. This would be the WORST year to make a fair assessment on Cam tbh How many different starting O-line units did we have this year? It seemed like a lot, and when an O-line can't gain chemistry throughout the year when injuries are constantly happening, it's not going to go well for the QB no matter who you are.

I think it'll take more than improvement of the o-line. The offense has become predictable. You cannot impose your will in the NFL when the other teams know exactly what you're doing. The offensive "evolution" is as important as any personnel changes/health concerns. Gotta put in little wrinkles so the defense hesitates.

I think Cam can get back to that kind of form, but as others have noted, it will require a much improved Oline so Cam can get his confidence & timing back.  He seemed to be seeing ghosts all season.  All those hits took a toll.  Also we've got to improve on WRs and get guys who can get more separation.

But in addition to those factors outside of Cam's control, I do wonder about his motivation.  In 2015 he wanted to prove he was worthy of the huge contract he received.  Perhaps winning MVP lessened his hunger a bit.  Hopefully this past season and people again wondering about him will give him a fresh motivation to come out and PROVE he's elite to silence the critics.  2015-2016 has been a time of BIG change in his life....  Having kids, doing the TV show.... all of this may be taking his focus just a bit off of football, it's not his whole life anymore (nor should it be..., but it's an adjustment he needs to make, figuring out how to balance football and non-football.)

This along with the football stuff I do think some non football stuff distracted him as well. He does have another kid on the way.

It's obvious that first game set the tone overall for what would become a disastrous season. Guys gave it their all only for our nearly top paid in the league kicker to miss the game winner, one of what would become many more crucial missed kicks throughout the season.

I saw plenty of glimpses of MVP Cam Newton early on in the season, focus didn't seem to be an issue. As time went on though, things just went downhill. I honestly don't think many QB's in the league right now would have finished the whole season while taking the amount of punishment that Newton did in 2016. Perhaps we have come to take Newton's durability for granted.

Yeah, lack of focus was never a thing to me. I saw a lack of confidence though in not only himself, but the team/coaches. Him being a mutant of a human definitely worked in his favor this season.

I have not seen this Cam Newton in a very  long time

i miss him  I miss those tough runs  I miss thinking he was invincible  I miss that smile

I don't know if we will see him again.

I sometimes wonder if among the contract  signing, Fatherhood, the head shots, the frustrations with the lack of talent around him, his outside interests, if  he has given up or lost passion for the game   It sure seems that way  I can't imagine for example a Brady or Rodgers or any other top QB talking about the need to get away

He has a lot of work to do on his mechanics and mental approach to the game even after the oline is fixed and hopefully a better backfield and other weapons found

i am just being honest. Even before the rest of it, he was listless from the 3rd pre season  game on.

This year will tell the tale

Yeah he was so listless when he was getting battered, and getting his be rung behind a suspect OL as he still managed to keep the game close, and get us in field goal range for the game winner in Mile High.

This is pure horseshit, and you know it.

My answer to this is look at Matt Ryan for all these years, and look at them this year with a real offensive coordinator and a few quality free agents.

Too much is made of good seasons versus bad seasons and people forget about what's around the quarterback.

We've all seen Cam make Aaron Rodgers throws, Michael Vick runs and do things that no one other quarterback could.

Of course we've also seen him look like Garbage at times to as the same as Aaron Rodgers has looked like garbage at times, people questioned if he was getting too old blah blah blah.

I think we need a real play caller and of course improve the cast around Cam--

And lastly, all of them need a coach-- Tom Brady talks about how Bill never stops holding him accountable, and having a relentless drive to be the best Tom he can be all the time--

We need that for Cam.

Then we will have MVP multiple times, repeated deep playoff runs and a Super Bowl.

That's a lot--- if we don't get that for Cam and the team then we will return to the days of a playoff run every 2-3 years and garbage-

Hi swear cam Newton is like a mood ring for this team. He wears his emotions on his sleeve so he's pretty easy to read emotion wise but I just miss the smiles and the happiness, like what we saw and the Kansas City game in the beginning it was like oh my gosh that's the MVP we were talking about he has such bright flashes that it's just hard to ignore so people
