Do you believe Cam can return to MVP form?

No. I don't know it. I am telling you what I saw at the games I attended and watching the replays on tv

i love Cam Newton. I will say what I see regardless He was not the same this year in any sense of the word

Does the talent around him need to be fixed yes, because as Cam goes, so goes Carolina.   He needs to fix himself as well   He missed open receivers  he didn't see open receivers  his footwork has already been talked about

Frankly, he would do well this year to be lower key and spend every second this year on his day job.

Cam was Cam until the Vikings game..But to his dismay the Denver loss took the funness away...You get beat up do your part drive the ball only to see your kicker screw the teams hard work away...this happened repeatedly. No help from officials, teammates, coaches he was left beat up. No qb has went thru what Cam has not even Big Ben. Then the turmoil in Charlotte with United States.  He is a black man and no matter what he does he can not escape it. There is no rest for him because people look to him on the field and off the field. That is why he needs a break from football.. its hard in the real world ..football to Cam is joy but when your playground turns into a MLA ring without notice you have to regroup.

He ran for 636 yards. He threw for 3837 yards. I don't think he won the MVP award by running.

The threat to run is as valuable as the yardage. It helps the pass game. If Cam were to drop the run aspect, he would vastly need to improve his accuracy and other parts to still be an elite QB.

He was #16 in passing yardage in 2015. While he may not have "won the MVP award by running," he definitely wouldn't have won it just with passing.

Correct. 10 rushing tds didn't hurt. 45 combined tds is pretty good. He needs his running ability.

Take off your homer glasses. Without his running stats he would not have won the MVP, furthermore his threat as a runner immensely helps the passing game especially when our whole offsensive system is basically built around that threat.

Cam stripped of that threat and asked to be a pure passer, not to be confused with a qb who only passes ie manning or Brees or Brady, (scrambling will always be part of the game) would not win te MVP and likely never will unless he basically transforms himself into and elite passer qb which would be quite impressive.

Yup, he'll be back to MVP form... I think he spread himself a little too thin last off-season with the kids show, etc.. he looked "tired" all year and he confirmed in his end of the season press conference that he needs some down time. 2015 was a whirlwind and I don't think he realized how much it took out of him. Combine that with stale playcalling and a slew of injuries along the OL and you have a recipe for a down year, it was the perfect storm.

Our OL needs to get healthy, our offense needs to "evolve" and Cam needs to rest and re-energize.

Okay but that's not why we drafted Cam Newton. Tom Brady and Drew Candyass aren't as big or as fast as Cam Newton.

Cam doesn't have to be a pure passer. He is more than that. Why strip him of something that makes him special. 35 TDs and 10ints are still very impressive passing numbers.

Not so say inprove his accuracy because 2015 Cam was spot on with back shoulder throws, quick slants etc...there was not many bad throws..but you see our line played better last yr in most games....Everybody talks about Cams accuracy...He does have a tendency to throw high but I believe its due to the suspect line play..the trust he just does not have like 2015....Cam needs to re establish trust with his line and receivers.  If we are not going to run him then the players we have need to be changed on offense...the receivers mainly..if you are jammed at the line timing is going to be off..none of our receivers truly win at the line of scrimmage. Olsen is the only one and he throws to olsen in tight spaces because he trust olsen will make a play..unlike the others.

Yes but he will need help because he can no longer mask the weaknesses of this offense. There were seasons where Cam lead this team in rushing yards and tds.

Time to establish a traditional running game without the threat of Cam's legs. Would be nice to have a 1k yard runner. Next more utilization of the RB in the passing game. David Newton said that our RBs combined for the least amount of receptions in the league, 10 less than the 2nd worst team. Next, one of the biggest loses on offense was surprisingly Cotchery. We did not have a receiver that could win underneath on a consistent basis with crisp routes and strong hands. Also, have to get better tackle play so that we don't have to stay in max protect and free up more players to run routes instead of blocking.

Finally, after the above issues are addressed then we can look at Cam. Evaluate the offense as a whole first then you can look at individual players. I would like to see Cam work on 3 things. The first is ball placement. To get the most out of Kelvin and Devin we have to throw back shoulders and lob the ball up so they are the only ones able to get it. Second is pocket mobility. Ron mentioned that they will have to find new ways to use Cam's legs. Let's work on using more rollouts, bootlegs, climbing the pocket. Third, eye manipulation to get defenders away from intended target several interceptions came from defenders reading his eyes in zone coverage.

Overall,  IMO more work needs to be done with the scheme and personnel around Cam than the player himself to return to MVP form.
