Kenny Stills please.

Yep.  If it's a FA, Stills could be a good situation.

Draft wise- Dede Westbrook (outside of a trade-back, my top John Ross isn't a likely possibility).

But....given the rise of the dual threats, Chris Samuel from OSU could be a really interesting fit for us Rd2/3.  We do like the alum from Ohio State.

To me, it's a simple yet major reason why we sucked so much this year.

Shula varied and designed the offense with Ted Ginn and Philly on the outside, both sub 4.5-ers, and didn't evolve it at all when Benjamin came back. He thought the speed could be replaced with a "throw the ball up" mentality circa Jake Delhomme 2005. Realistically, Kelvin is too slow right now to even get down the field fast enough for that (when offensive line woes are taken into consideration too).

It was just a recipe for disaster, and so hard to watch.

If he's going to continue with the long-developing plays, we need 2 outside speedsters, and Kelvin needs to be utilized in an Aaron Hernandez (sorry) role.

We should keep Ginn. And do one of the following :

1) Sign DeSean Jackson

2) Draft John Ross in the 1st or 2nd round

3) Draft DeDe Westbrook in the 2nd-4th rounds

Yeah the playcalling has been atrocious. You can't put 100 percent of the blame on Shula though. There have been bad drops, KB getting stripped in the KC game infuriated me like no other football play I can recently remember, WRs not getting open even when the line does give them alot of time, Cam making worse descions , OLine being injured and/or playing like ass so not enough time for receivers to run their route.

it was very frustrating to me that Rivera and/or Shula didn't get Byrd some appreciable snaps in a season that was over basically by the end of October.

I totally agree with this.  I share the frustration. It would have been really good to see if Byrd could have helped things.

I guess the explanation  / thinking by our coaches was that neither KB nor Funchess are seasoned vets.  They too need snaps & experience to develop.  And given the high % of targets split between Greg and KB, there were hardly any targets even for Funch or Brown, let alone any newbies.

Also, by the time we were pretty much eliminated, the Oline was a disaster and the offense was already dealing with a lot of uncertainty... perhaps not the best time to throw a new rookie WR into the mix.

I don't care what Ron says, as long as Shula is here IMO we can expect more of the same.

In the 7-8-1 / 15-1 playoff seasons, we saw the same issues from the play-calling...lack of in game adjustments, slow developing plays, etc. let us all recall the OL was in similar shape in 2014, and Cam got beat into the earth and looked bad, then by the end of the season, it got decent, and the offense at least looked ok again.

I think we will see much of the same next year, until we get out of the ''hog-molly'' mind set on offense outside we will continue to struggle. IMO our 3 receiver looks should feature KB/Funch (rotating), with Ginn, and another speed receiver, Brown/Byrd, with Olsen at the TE position.

Hopefully we draft Fournette, so he and Stewart can be that single back on rotation. This line up gives us a WR to push deep (Ginn), an WR to work the shallow quicker routes/crossers (Brown/Byrd), and size to run the intermediate routes Olsen and (KB/Funch).

IMO that would be our most dangerous personnel package, if teams stay base to defend the run, we have the passing advantage, if they go nickel to match-up we have a favorable box. Currently our personnel gives away our play calls on down an distance far too often.

I wish we could land a traditional, professional WR via FA or trade. Someone like

Allen Robinson - not being used in shitty Jags offense and not happy. Possibly trade?

Jeremy Maclin - not being used in KC offense and possibly a cap casualty if KC wants to keep both Berry and Poe.

Brandon Marshall - not being used in shitty Jets offense and likely to be released.

All of these guys would instantly be the best WR on our team.   They all run infinitely better routes and have infinitely better hands than any wr on our team.  One problem with adding folks is always cost (picks and/or salary). The other problem that is specific to the Panthers is the make up of our WR corp. There really isn't any room for these guys unless we intend on sitting Funch.  We have big slow guys. Robinson and Marshall similar in that regard. Maclin is a little smaller and speedier but still isn't a burner.

I guess my point is that even if there were very good, well rounded WRs out there, we have really pigeon-holed ourselves into looking for one specific type of WR - a speed guy. Maybe Byrd is that guy. I don't know who else, in that mold, would be available besides Jackson. Idk that he really presents a value.

I have been saying this for a while.  Ginn is ok but the dropsies teams are willing to live with an occasional deep pass completion to Giinn.  He really does not strike fear because of the hands.  We need a speedster who they know will catch the ball majority of the time not some. Byrd should have been rotated in through out the yr. Especially when benji kept messing up.  How can you see what he has to offer if he is never on the field against true opponents. Being able to analyze what opponents weaknesses us on defense and exploit them is how you determine who is active and gets playing time...Not just saying we going to do this because this is what we do...Its not like we have wr that is sure handed and is a game changer that should never come off the field....Shula is not a good OC play design and situational awareness is not there...If you say we are a team that is going to what we gon do.  Have 1yd to get a 1st down. You decide to throw a deep bomb when we have Cam Newton is not smart but i think he thinks he is..who turns down a 98% chance for a 25% chance with iffy line and wr?

I doubt the Chiefs cut Maclin. I've already read somewhere that Poe is a likely goner (and that they basically already have his replacement), but you never know. They could attempt to use Maclin as trade bait now that Hill has come up, but it's not like they couldn't use Macklin. He also has a history with Andy Reid. Albert Wilson is a solid 4.4 guy (as is Maclin).

One-trick pony Marquise Goodwin will be available, but the obvious pick for me, if you are looking for speed with a little more versatility, is Kenny Stills.

I would like to see Stills and a slot guy like Jeremy Kerley or Kendall Wright signed. But, I'm aggressive-minded like that.  Ginn would likely be gone if he's asking for too much, and Bersin and maybe Brown with him.

We'd get some true competition up in this place.

Idk bout Kerley or Wright other than camp competition. Kerley was surprising this year but Wright has always looked awful to me. He is slow and small. I'd rather use funch or philly in the slot than Wright.

Stills is a good one. I wonder what it would take to nab him. I'd think he's probably cheaper than Ginn right?
