Panthers 20-1 to win next year's Super Bowl

The 20-1 odds the Panthers are given to win the Super Bowl, which put them right behind most of this year's playoff teams, indicate that the oddsmakers agree with Carolina coach Ron Rivera that missing the playoffs this season was a "blip" and not a trend. The nucleus of the team that went 17-2 (including playoffs) and reached the Super Bowl in 2015 remains largely intact. A more experienced secondary to go with more than $33 million to spend under the salary cap give Carolina a reasonable shot at contending for the title next season. -- David Newton

Hate to say It but it's going to be hard to get past the Falcons and win the division. They have an offense that's averaging almost 40 a game and a defense that reminds me a little of the Seahawks d when they were relevant.

If Ron doesn't turn his offense into a product of the 21st century we may not even get a wild card.

That's the scary thing. That defense of theirs is going to get better.

People probably said the same about us last year.  Let's see if they fall off any when Shanahan leaves.  A lot can change in this league very quickly

God this makes me shiver. But if Shanahan leaves, what does that do their offense?

Whats certain is that Gettleman, Ron and the rest of the staff can't do what's necessary to contend, we might as well enjoy just making it the wild cards every other year. In an organization that's perfectly okay with mediocracy, I'm not too hopeful.

We got to the Superbowl in 2015 with Remmers and Oher as our tackles, and Ted Ginn as our number 1 receiver.

I can tell you, as long as our o-line is healthy, the sky's the limit. Our defense is getting better as well, and with a good safety plugged in we'll have the most stout defense by far in the NFC South.

If we even get guys like Fournette, Leggett, and such on our offense, we got one of the league's top offenses as well.

Don't take all the blame away from the players as well. 4 lost on just missed FGs and another couple on pick 6s/1st and goal INTs. Even with all the injuries and bad decisions, we still should have made the playoffs.

6/10 games lost by 3 points or less. 6 games with a 4th Q lead as well I believe

Should have been contending for a title this season.

Makes me sick thinking about how badly our staff/front office dropped the ball.

This is happening with me too... So much so I'm debating getting a recent Madden (probably not '17) so that I can run our franchise the way it should be... lol... I've looked at '16 and '15, but can't decide what I want to do. Then on one hand I'd like to get '17 because of Cam dabbing... lol...

I haven't had a Madden since '10, and trying to go that far back and catch up to now has been meh.

    • I don’t know about floor in a team defense sense but we needed more.  The floor that I am familiar with is our QBs floor and it is so low that every other part of the team needs to be beefed up.     We tried our best to improve these things and I think we did improve the defense and we at least kept the offense  from sinking from no LT.  And ostensibly helped the receivers too.   So we kept a window open that we at least have a chance to improve our record by a game of two.  Which would probably give us the division.

    • Yeah. I am one of. those who think a JAG RB can eat with really good blocking. (Brooks is most important in my mind, in tbe passing game and that is what we’ll lose without him)  There are a lot of aspects to this. The big one that caused us to struggle is Young and his arm scared no one.  Best back, best blocking still cannot defeat a really good defense if they are not forced to respect the pass.  And teams did not.    But, a strong OL and running game Can get us over against weaker defenses.  And if Bryce still doesn’t scare anyone we can still win some games. Like last year  So it is really important to tend to that OL.   Get that straight and see if in his fourth year he can finally back defenses off. That is what if is all about this year to me, on the Bryce front.
