DG needs to just trade the compensatory pick to the Browns for Thomas and stop all this talk of drafting an OT in this draft. Because even the projected 1st rd OT don't look any better than what we already have.

Yup, a veteran. Cam needs veterans.

It's one thing to bargain bin for free agents, but why do we have to do the same thing with draftees?  If this guy is drafted in the 5th-7th rounds, fine.  Yet don't pick this guy up in the 2nd.

What makes you think the guy is "bargain bin?"

Scouts don't think this guy is a 5-7 round talent.

Here we go with this poo. It's like we don't learn from drafting small school linemen. The last two we drafted worked out so well.

We have had two WR from USC, A running back from Louisville, A WR from Colorado, a Tight End for Stanford and I am sure if I went back through our history I would find more of big named schools players that didn't pan out either.

If I remember with one of them the talent was there just he couldn't stay healthy.  In fact both were injury prone.  I am pretty sure that had nothing to do with them being from a small school.

Should there be extra research on a small school player.  I would say yes but to drop them from your board because they didn't play big time football isn't a good idea either.

    • Damn I liked A'Shawn too. This is basically a heads up we're planning on cutting you move.  Robinson wasn't the best but I loved his attitude and effort on the field. He held that entire dline together when Brown went down iirc..granted we finished that season as the worst rushing defense in modern NFL history.  If Wharton would have performed up to atleast half of his salary last season, I'd feel a little better about it. We do need that cap space though.
    • 13. Carolina is coming. The Panthers are well thought of around the league. Their "process" seems sound. I think their off-season will be very interesting to keep an eye on. They made the playoffs, but they're not yet knocking on the door. (Offense was 26th in EPA/play.) I think it's imperative they don't overestimate where they are in their build. They can't throw a ton of money around in FA to "make a run now". They need to be intentional about building a solid foundation. (IMO) And from what I know about the team... I think they will be. Sidenote: I have my eye on offense there, not defense. They HAVE to leave next season with a strong opinion on Bryce Young. They need to put pieces around him to do that. Can't be left wondering what he would have looked like with "better OL play" or "more pass catchers". They have to know. (That part is purely my opinion. No one told me that.) https://x.com/lindsay_rhodes/status/2027212533417869499?s=46&t=xeIgh_-Vr2aKxBkBJdfnKA
    • Because this DL is completely reliant on Brown being available and being a stud. Without him we were the worst D in history. The Wharton signing last year reeked of desperation. He just isn't a great fit for us schematically and I think we panicked a little bit when we missed out on Milton Williams who would have been a great fit.
