DG a bad drafter? Fox sports says otherwise.

I took a look at his draft classes a few months back and gave him a C in that category...

Here were those thoughts....

To put a little context on this, Bradberry really started coming on towards the end of the year and so did Davis. I'll still keep the jury's out mentality on the 2016 draft class.

Below done when we were 4-8 on Dec 1st of last year:

------------------

2013:

Star - hit (+1)

Kk - hit (+1)

Kugbila - miss (-1)

Klein - hit (+1)

Barner - miss (-1)

2013 = +1

2014

KB - hit? (+1)

Kony - Miss? (-1)

Tre turner - hit (+1)

Boston - hit? (+1)

Bene - miss (-1)

Gaffney - miss (-1)

2014= 0

2015

Shaq - hit (+1)

Funchess - hit? (+1)

Williams - miss (-1)

Mayo - wash

CAP - miss (-1)

2015 = 0

2016 = too early to call but id be hard pressed to give a steller grade for a first rounder who is a ghost and a less than awe inspiring performance from the rest.

DGs only favorable thing, for me, is our cap room... which he better damned well use in 2017.

Drafting Ability - C

Salary Cap - A (B+?)

Wins - B+

FA - C+

Wins w/ Gentlemen:

2013 - 12-4 (0-1 playoffs)

2014 - 7-8-1 (1-1 playoffs)

2015 - 15-1 (2-1 playoffs)

2016 - 4-8 (miss playoffs I assume)

Total - 38-21-1 (3-3 playoffs)

2013-2015 - .719 W/L

2013-now - .633 W/L

I give him a solid B rating. More than enough to "in DG we trust" still.

  At first glance, any system giving equal weight to early and late round picks is flawed. And some of you grades don't seem to take into account where they were drafted into their value. Getting anything out of 5th rounders like CAP and Bene is not a miss to me. But that's me. Good topic.

This was not a "system" and I considered a weighting effort but just moved on into the oblivion of the crap 2016 season.

Take it for what it is... a 20 min look at the draft picks...

Obviously, an in depth analysis of DGs drafting would include much more than I put into it on 12.1.16.

Ummm.

That's on the coaching AND effort from some of our boys out there.

Had Short, Ealy, Benjamin and Tolbert gave a damn when it mattered, who knows how much different our season could have been.

Last offseason wasn't the best, but they treat it like it was the worst one in history

Williams isn't a miss and mayo isn't a wash.  They both showed that they could play toward the end of the season.  Some people just take more than a year to show their worth

Williams has spent his opportunities(to come in and beco.e a starter) by playing a couple games and going to IR. He is reminding me a lot of Solitui... or however you spell his effing name

No one has drafted more NFL starters and rotational players than Gettleman since he started as our GM.  It's hard to argue that he isn't a top 5 GM in the league given how quick he turned around our situation and got us to an SB, and this is the first year he'll be able to make a real dent in FA as well.  The foolish Gettleman bashers would have us send packing a manager who would be employed for about 2 seconds before being snapped back up.

I don't know if alot of people here realize how young we've drafted the last 3 years. 5 (of 8) of our picks in the first 3 round could not or could barely legally drink when drafted (Turner, Shaq, Funchess, Butler, Worley) and are all younger then the majority of draft prospects this year. They just need some time.
