"Growing sense" Chiefs moving on from Alex Smith

Sure they could.  Just have to build a fantastic defense, as Denver did last year.  When they won it with a qb who could barely throw the ball more than 10-15 yards.

That is a terrible old cliche, did anyone see how awful Peyton Manning was in BOTH the Superbowls??? Even the entire playoffs he was beyond terrible. Still won. Trent dilfer rode a great D to a win too, few other name-less QBs got there and some won.

Defense lead not Alex Smith. Plus those teams that win with mediocre QB plays are anomalies. And Peyton actually made some crucial throws in the playoffs, throws that Alex Smith is scared of attempting.

This moving would confusing becuz smiths contract is favorable for them to try and retain Berry. By releasing Smith my immediate thought is to free up cap for Berry. But then either Romo or Jimmy G would have a higher price tag than Smiths current. Interesting.

Whst if they release Smith save cap and traded Berry after tagging him for a QB

Can we really be making fun of other teams QB's when we had the 28th ranked QB with the lowest completion % in the league and it wasn't even close (3.7% from 2nd worst for qualified qbs).

yeah we can because cam is a better quarterback than alex smith, full stop

do you think the chiefs would take cam newton right now?

The only reason I could think they would float a rumor of cutting Smith was if they were already in trade talks with someone and wanted to worry that team about him getting onto the free market. Smith would go fast and fairly expensive out there.

You think Fox in Chicago wouldn't rather have Smith than Cutler the Coach Killer?

    • The same folks crying about the OL right now were crying about it in 2023 too. We have tied up over 100 million dollars in two interior olinemen alone. We've invested multiple first and second round picks in the offense. We hired an offensive minded head coach. This is an offensive team. The offense needs to produce or people need to be replaced.
    • This is the same place that has ridiculed and blasted Caleb Williams at every opportunity he has his team sitting at 10-4 in the same NFC that the Panthers are competing in. And their division in the NFC North is as or more competitive as our division. Yet from the same people who have very high standards for Williams we get every excuse imaginable for the smallest starting QB in the league even when he and his team continue to disappoint when the pressure is on. You lot aren't any less inconsistent than anyone else.
    • The Panthers are 9th in cap spent on offense this year.  However next season is already a different story  The Panthers as it stands right now will be 18th in cap spent on offense and 8th in cap spent on defense  The Panthers are currently set to spend more on defense next year than they are on offense this season Guys like Jaycee and Moehrig cap numbers take a big jump. Wharton has a massive cap hit   Jaycee Moehrig and Wharton in 2025 The same 3 in 2026 So this same defense as it stands right now will cost more in 2026 than this offense does right now… Got anything else you want to try?
