His stock has been all over the place depending on what you read. Some orginally say before the weighins he'll fall out of the top 10 and Cook is the Top RB.
Weighins yesterday you saw some say it really hurt his stock coming in at 240.
Theres a thread on here where the 49ers are now really considering him at #2 post weighin. Meanwhile some of these "experts" you see reporting on some sites say his stock really took a hit.

I just hope his stock falls to #8 for us to grab

Man, I have been watching this stuff for a long time. Don't believe the hype! The Combine truly is the Underwear Olympics. Some experts say that somewhere around 90% of a players draft grade is based upon tape. I believe it was Bryan Strickland of Panthers.com that said basically that these scouts have their minds made up by the Combine on most picks, and that some players have been scouted for years. Of course there's always the chance that a red flag of sorts may pop up at the Combine that may be at odds with what's on tape, or, on the other hand, maybe there's a pleasant surprise. But in most cases, the tape don't lie, and that's where the huge percentage of the grade comes from.

Moreover, it truly is the NFL's lying season. Everyone is jockeying to get their guy, or manipulate someone into a trade to maximize their draft picks. Goading a team to trade up or down to garner more picks is part of the game, especially if you can get the guy you really want regardless if you move down or not. There should always be a plan A, B, and C,  and it's perfectly fine for plan A to be to gain more picks.

And lastly, some scouts do consider Cook the better back, or the better fit, or the one with more upside. That's not a surprise. Of course, Fournette is still the front runner for most, and the Underwear Olympics isn't going to change that.

Thomas coming in even shorter than advertised hurts him.

I never really saw him advertised as much taller than that to start with.

NFL.com has him at 6'3" and espn.com had him at 6'2' and he came in at 6'2 5/8ths.  I don't think evaluators expected much different.

Is that potentially too tall? I know there is a lot of talk about bend to get around tackles on pass rush and guys like Miller and Beasley are 6'4" and 6'2". Only Danielle Hunter (6'6") and Chandler Jones (6'5") in the top sack leaders in 2016 are taller than Miller at 6'4". The other 5 are 6'1" to 6'3".

Not if you can bend & have flexibility.

Tarell Basham is one to watch in the rest of the testing. Measured up very well...

6'4", 269, 34.25" arms, 10.25" hands.

Keeping my eye on it as well

We've already met with him at the senior bowl, and if youve looked at gettlemans draft history. A majority of guys he's drafted, we met with at some point whether senior bowl, combine, etc

    • Rico walking is no big deal. I'll take a healthy 2024 Hubbard over Rico any time and losing Mays is, again, no a big deal.  Young is signed for what, $35M for the next two years? Say he wants $50M but the FO doesn't. If they put the franchise tag on him, that would be around $55? So basically they are getting Young for the next 3 years for an average of $30M per year. Putting the franchise tag on him wouldn't be my first choice but it gives them an option that wouldn't be locking him into a long term, $50M contract. I'm not suggestion they do that. Just that the option will be there should they get to that point. Hunt is on a 5 year deal which is done in 28 so he either restructures or is gone anyway. Moton will be 35 by then and will either be gone or have diminished playing time. Neither of those players has anything to do with getting Young a contract. The O line is way overpaid anyway. Hopefully by the time they are gone, Freeling and Hecht will be developed and Ickey will be healthy. Young was benched his second year and only got his job back because Dalton was injured. Not sure how you can call that entitled. And I would NOT say putting a rookie QB on a team with no receivers, tight ends or O lineman and then being put with a coach who never wanted you and is fired mid season, is a definition of luck. As far as competition, no team is going to bring in competition for a QB picked first overall - especially given the capital that was given up to get him.
    • With apologies to Lady Cowboy fan, any day we can screw over the Cowboys is a GOOD day…
    • Been here since 2014ish. Good times. Its a shame Zod wont sell, it wouldnt take that much effort to get this place back into shape.
