Ladies and gentlemen, the Cleveland Browns

The Browns are the type of organization that whatever decision they make will be the wrong one. Pick Trubisky and he'll probably be the next Blaine Gabbert. Not pick Trubisky and he'll go to the right team and thrive.

Sad but true.

Browns considering Mitch Trubisky with #1 pick

Not to slam Trubisky, but is there really a good argument for him going #1 overall?

Yes. Imo, Trubisky is a better prospect than Wentz last year. Plus the Browns need a damn QB.

I don't think Garrett is that special of a talent. He's not on tier of Clowney or Mario Williams as a prospect.

Cleveland had #1 and #12, in-between 3 QBs could get drafted. They should take the best player on their board, then have deals in place to move up form 12 to land their favorite QB. Panthers at #8, we've done business last year.....

Fyi panthers are going crazy about 4 out of 98, Cleveland has 4 out of 65 in this deep draft.

Trading down with the Browns is actually perfect for us if everyone ahead of us makes the safest predictable non-QB picks imaginable. No QBs taken by our pick then Gettleman's phone will be ringing off the hook and the Browns probably have the best trade down option for us. We only slide 4 picks down in the 1st, pick up their 2nd rounder . That means we end up with  a high 1st rounder, two top ten second rounders, and two third rounders.

Considering there is no chance we take a QB the Bengals would be a better trade partner for the Browns.

Shocking that a four year starter had more command over the offense than a first year starter, right?

Trubisky's accuracy is phenomenal.

I hope the Browns pass on him simply because I'm curious to see how he'll do in the NFL and Cleveland is an NFL graveyard and a dumpster fire of an organization.

To me, there was a marked difference between the two, even in the infancy of their tenures.  Trubisky just seemed overhyped to me.  Williams often willed his team to win and, for the most part, seemed to be solid with reads and accuracy.  Trubisky, for a more traditional-from-the-pocket-passer, seemed to struggle a lot more woth reads and decision making than he should have throwing from the pocket, which was supposedly his strength.

And while yes, Williams had a few boneheaded moments (late INT vs SC in the season opener 2 years ago), he in many instances was the primary reason his team was in the game.  Trubisky made several mistakes that cost his team games or put them at risk to losing them more than I expected after hearing so much about him before he became the starter.

Just saying, I was actually surprised he was thrown in 1st round consideration after watching him play quite a bit.  Not saying he won't be an adequate starter at some point, but I think the odds are much higher that he falls short of expectations - whatever they may be.  Just my opinion...

Marquise Williams as a senior:

218/356 (61.2%) for 3068 yards 24 TDs and 10 INTs

Mitch Trubisky:

304/447 (68%) for 3748 yards 30 TDs and 6 INTs

I'm honestly not sure what you were watching, but let me remind you...

10/14 on the final drive with three 4th down conversions and the last second TD. This against the same Pitt team that beat Clemson picking off Watson 3 times.

Don't forget going 38 yards in 9 seconds vs. FSU to setup the game winning FG.

70%+ passing percentage in 7 games.

He had three bad games. His debut against UGA on the road, the Virginia Tech game that was literally played in a hurricane, and the Stanford game in the bowl game. But let's be honest, Fedora UNC teams have sucked in bowls and Soloman Thomas sonned the UNC OL so badly it was reminiscent of watching Von Miller in the Super Bowl.

im sure plenty of people here can say the same but as a person who watched every snap of his college career, i agree with this post. felt like the mental aspect didn't come very quickly for a "top of the draft" qb. he was definitely let down by play calling and defense throughout the season but he still never really looked like a potential top pick in the draft. bet he kills it at the combine and his pro day though

Well, that's the thing. Comparatively he doesn't have that many reps, so the "mental aspect" isn't necessarily going to come quickly. The more experience that he gets, the more polished the mental aspect of the game will become.

Dude is raw, but he can make every throw with NFL-type accuracy from the little I've seen. He can throw with anticipation, and also throw into the tight windows that will be warranted at the pro level. Once he gets the reps, he just may be an above average QB. He is so green right now, that you arguably have to do a little more projection than normal with the guy. But, I like what I've seen.

    • Just another 1st round QB that never paid off for the team that drafted them or traded for them. It's been like this since the SB began. 36 QBs have now won the SB & only 13 of them have been 1st rounders winning with their original team. Namath 1968, Griese 1972, Bradshaw 1974, McMahon 1985, Simms 1986, Aikman 1992, Elway 1997, Roethlisberger 2005, P.Manning 2006, E.Manning 2007, Rodgers 2010, Flacco 2012, & Mahomes 2019. Only 3 have taken longer than 5 seasons as the starter to win a SB.  4  6  5  4  6  4  15  2  9  4  3  5  2 [the years it takes for these 1st round QBs] 5  1  4  1  3  1  1  2  3  4  [10 of the 36 have won a chip with their 1st team that haven't been drafted in the 1st round. These are the years it took them as a starter] What stands out? Only 2 of these QBs have lost their first championship appearance. Elway took 4 years as a 1st rounder & Hurts took 2 years as a 2nd rounder. Of the 10 non-1st round QBs, 2 are 2nd rounders, 3 are 3rd rounders, 5 are 6th rounders or later. Please stop wasting time on drafting 1st round QBs with such a high failure rate. The remaining 13 QBs are traded or free agent signings. Stafford, Favre, Young, Williams and Dawson are the 5 trades. Peyton Manning & Tom Brady also won for teams as free agents on a short stay as well as being drafted. The lesson here is don't waste your franchise on farming up 1st rounders for the league, and steer clear of trading for a franchise QB. Stick to finding that championship QB by drafting them outside of the 1st round or through free agency.
    • I lost most of the respect I had for Fox in 2010. He should have resigned if he hated the job that much. Instead he stuck for his paycheck and let stuff go to hell.    I burned out on Ron too but my deal breaker issue with him was away from football and after he was gone from the Panthers. He may have been out of his depth but never quit on us.
    • From where they were one year ago to now, pretty incredible. I mean, say what you want about Vrabel he is no Jerrod Mayo.
