How Would You Feel If Gettleman picks Marshon Lattimore with pick #8?

I'd be pissed.

Ok..... not as pissed if we took a LB or QB at 8, but pretty bothered that we used a rare opportunity of an 8th overall pick on a CB after spending 3 picks on it last year.

Lattimore is a helluva shutdown CB, no doubt.  I just think we've got that with Bradberry and we need more of a compliment to him and Worley.  Honestly a veteran nickel would be a better use of resources and let the 2 young guys rock it out on the boundaries. Or, get a veteran #2 and let Worley work the slot, though I think he's better outside.... whatevs.

Lattimore also has major hamstring injury issues and had another one at the combine flare up after his 40, IIRC.

Not taking anything away from Lattimore, but I think one of Thomas, Fournette, Howard and if the stars align - one of the safeties will be there at 8. Any of those players are far greater for our future than grabbing a second shutdown corner at 8.

To those who are saying no to Lattimore:

The first round prospects can be divided in tiers.

Tier 1 - (Let's call them A+players) Garrett by himself imo.

Tier 2 - (A players) Fournette. Adams. Hooker. Lattimore. Allen.

Tier 3 - (B+players) Ross. Oj Howard. Taco. Thomas.

Assuming you agree with the rankings, if all of the tier 2 players are gone except for Lattimore (an unfortunate possibility) laid out like this, would you still be mad we took a corner? I've seen dozens of mocks post combine and almost all of them had Fournette, Adams, and Hooker gone by our pock (over favs). Some had Allen gone, some Lattimore.

Best case scenario, Lattimore impresses so much he gets picked top 7, pushing down Adams or Hooker or Fournette.

There's been alot of talk about DEs, the top safteys, and Fournette, but there's not been much talk about the top CBs. Is everyone just assuming there's no chance we take one early because of the picks we made last year? I'm curious as to what you would think if we took Lattimore with 8.

Or how would you feel if he made an otherwise curveball pick that no ones really expecting or just very low prob? Like Mike Williams, Corey Davis, Lattimore, Charlton, Rueben Foster, John Ross, Jabrill Peppers, OJ Howard or any OT ?

As for Lattimore I wouldn't hate it. I'm guessing he'd overtake Worely's stating spot and Worely and whoever our other backup CB is could spell them coming off the bench. Having two lockdown corners isn't really anything to complain about but its most certainly not the sexiest pick considering most fans want either a DE or an offense player like Fournette .

The only pick I wouldn't like is Ruben Foster or Jabrill Peppers. Pretty much any of the other guys in the top 20 or so I'd be okay with .

I wouldn't think any different of him...

In this scenario though, I would almost rather Carolina take a B+ guy at a position of need, say OJ Howard at TE, than load up on another CB where we already are decently stacked.

Adoree looked great at the combine but I'm not really a fan. He's a good returner and probably nickel in the NFL

This is the guy I coveted at 40 pre combine, but as expected I think he moved above 40. He would be perfect for us at 40. Shores up nickel db who can play outside in a pinch, plus great returner. He's a slower than Devin Hester but my goodness he has better ball skins and cover skills. He is close to what people have tried to make Hester all these years..........

He makes perfect sense to win now mode teams and long term as a nickel db + returner.

Understandable. The next question would be, how big of a gap would it need to be for you NOT to perfer the player at a position of need.
