the first 2 picks alone are worth 4.2 million.

3.125 - the bottom contract value of the current top 51.

Repeat for each rookie contract.

Right now that number is 540k, 7 contracts sit at the bottom 51 worth exactly 540k.

So the #8 pick is really adding 2.858m to the top 51 cap.

#40 is really adding 629k.

#64 is really adding 214k.

The picks from 98 through 192 add another 300k roughly.

The reason you don't have to figure in signing bonuses and such is those bottom contracts are usually flat 1 year deals with no guaranteed money.

So really this years draft picks are really just adding 4.1m to the cap.

well oher is gonna be a june 1st cut which will save $4.5 million of cap.

And I'd get rid of Dickson that'd allow us to pick up Cook and maybe 1 more.

We are likely done with some minor exceptions though....maybe a later tier WR.

I updated the spreadsheet with picks 8,40, and 62. They are the only ones that will be in the top 51 if the draft were today. I came up with a net cost of just under 3.1 Million for the rookie class.

Picks 98 through 192 will count 300k. Pick #8 is 2.8m itself and picks 40 and 64 add another 600k and 214k. The bottom 6-7 contracts are only worth 540k not the vet minimum.

Theres not many open roster spots for carolina.  They do not need to use all their picks.  8th pick salary isn't ideal for getty.  He may want to go a cheaper route.  I think Carolina moves down 5-7 spots in the 1st round picking up a 2nd.  Moves their late 2nd up 15 spots by trading their 3rd/4th etc.  They now have 4 picks in the top 50.  Who would they pick?

I am assuming your'e right because I don't have the patience or desire to figure this stuff out. I just know that it always takes around 4-5 mil  to sign rookies. At least that's what I've always heard for the last few years.

Most the info came from overthecap.com. I filled in the blanks for them. Format may be shitty, don't know until I post. But below is our top 51 contracts that count against the cap for 2017.

EDIT: As others pointed out I forgot the roll over money from 16. According to the NFLPA https://www.nflpa.com/public-salary-cap-report that number was $13,208,020

I also forgot the dead money from this year. Should be correct now.

So current top 51 = $166,137,172

+ 1,885.303 in dead money = $168,022,475.

Cap is 167 Million and we rolled over 13,208,020. So effective cap is $180,208,020. Subtract the top 51 and dead money total of $168,022,475 and you get a cap space number of $12,185,545.

I'd also like to add I completely guessed on Scott,Bersin, and Jacobs. I went low, so if they come back with more money that will reduce the space some.

EDIT 2.0 I added rookie class to original spreadsheet. Picks 8,40 and 62 cracked the top 51.  That made the top 51 now = 169,224,389 + the 1,885,303 in dead money brings us to $171,109,692 subtract that number from the Adjusted cap of $180,208,020 and you get $9,098,328 in space.

Not if your saying the cap is 167 million.  167 is the base for all teams before adding their carryover.  So we have about 180millon.  The Chiefs had about 167,000,000.32.  Its all relative.

We cut Dickson & Lee while restructure J-Stew that should bring in between 5-7 million extra?
