It was my impression that our offense during those first two years would be great during the early part of the game, then fold up later.  But yeah, the defense sucked as well.

This pretty much says it.  Everything it seems went against him early in the year and he and the team weren't the same.  The refs have to call the head shots, it's only their job to do so.  With everything on fa and the draft being said, if Cam is Cam we are serious contenders.  If not it will be tough, obviously.  He MUST get away from holding the ball so long.  Bad habit resurfaced last year.

I did see for the first time, cam use a floater rather than his fastball. Like I said barely any improvement... Footwork still a mess, ball placement still inconsistent, using his core far too much, overall mechanics, his still gets too many balls batted form poor release mechanics, using his fastball unnecessarily 99% of the time, eyes got worse after 2015, getting the ball out faster.  etc etc. I know OL didn't help, still you cannot rely on that 2015 OL giving 5 secs per play either.

That's the other side of his greatest treat, running the ball and get punished. Can New era cam be a pocket main, I hope so. Now Defenses don't have to game plan for cam running, that's huge. Along with the OTs, Shula,RR, and Dorsey.....I'm butt tight

Yeah, Cam can do it...with protection and a running game.  I think he's a top 5 QB when he's right.  Hall of Famer actually.  I mean that.

That's been the talking point, right? The hits Cam takes while running. Realistically, the vast majority of the big hits he's taken in his career have been while he's been acting as a passer.

Cam running less designed run plays isn't a bad thing. It's a natural evolution of his game.

Hell, honestly I'd embrace us moving away from that part of the game. We've done so much designed running with Cam that I feel like he never scrambles anymore. I think he feels like he HAS to throw the ball when we dial up a passing play. I'd love to see him get back to taking off scrambling when nothing is open instead of waiting forever for routes to develop and end up taking a sack or having to try to force a ball.

I agree, after that 2015 there's no other QB I wanted. Then 16 happened and now I have too many questions . hope for the best

And the hit against the Redskins was flat out disrespectful.  Cam gets a 15 yrd flag?  Dang, that one burns me badly.

The Lance Taylor hire makes me really think we have something in mind for this offense.  I think that's being overlooked.  The more I've found about him, he seems like a more and more promising coach.  RB and WR coach experience, college and NFL.  One of David Shaw's confidants.
