NFL Executive: Myles Garrett May Not Be The First Overall Pick

Confused as to why people are referring to Mario Williams as a bust or a low-ceiling guy.... dude is 34th all time in sacks. If every first round pick you got turned into a Mario Williams-caliber-player, you'd be in the super bowl every year.

It's because most people only pay attention to the first two years of most players careers. Kinda like saying Garrett is a Julius Peppers pick. Garrett and Pepper are totally different.

If it was anyone but Cleveland picking, he would be a lock.

I think it is a reasonable discussion whether he is the most beneficial pick for them. Also it seems big name DE picks haven't done much in a while

It's also possible the Browns are floating a rumor of being really, really interested in Trubisky to try to scare the 49ers, who seem to like him, into trading up to #1 to get him. Then they'd get Garrett plus a bunch more picks.

I mean, it's the Browns so you can't discount the idea that they actually are thinking of taking Trubisky instead of Garrett, but it's also possible they are toying with the 49ers. The 49ers have a new GM who has shown a propensity this offseason to go after the player he wants no matter the cost.  He made Kyle Juszczyk the highest ever paid fullback (double the amount of the previous highest paid fullback), paying him like a top 10 running back.  So I wouldn't discount the 49ers pulling off such a stupid move.

It could go either way with these two teams.

Oh, please. That guy was a complete no show his junior year. He might as well have just sat the season out and waited for his draft eligibility.

If Clowneys tape screamed no show to you than what did Garrett's tell you? Cause that thing is not even in Clowneys stratosphere

Mario Williams is a 6'7" 295 lb man with 98 career sacks.

I fail to see your point here, since either player having the ceiling of Mario Williams would be damn fantastic.

But regarding Clowney, he is nothing more than the "Bo Jackson" of DE's at this point. Everyone has a tall tale of his greatness, but where the hell is the production? Even his "pro bowl" season was mediocre statistically.

If he isn't careful, he will end up more "Reggie Bush" than "Barry Sanders."

Cause Williams is his peak, most players never reach their peak. Even so Williams has always been inconsistent.

Statiscally, well their you go. Last year he was great and you don't need stats to tell me I actually saw him play. He took over games like against NE.

This was also his first full year being healthy and the first time he had his hand in the dirt since college. The Texans were using him at OLB for some stupid reason.

Disagree-they have multiple needs and far bigger needs than DE.  Their best play is getting what they can for the pick.  Garrett visited the Jaguars recently-who knows whether they think he could fall to 4 or if they're interested in trading up, but Garrett to the Browns at 1 is absolutely no sure thing.

The only sure thing is that no matter what decision the Browns make with the No 1 pick....it will be the wrong one.

Iggles gave up a ton. Would cost our 1st and 2nd. A first in 2018 and possibly another 2nd in 18' or 19'

For Myles Garrett, I'd give up a # 8 this year, a 2nd this year, and our 1st next year.
