I think this is a good move. I can't cry about the WR position at the moment...what's done is done

We got to the super bowl with fugin Ted ginn and Philly Brown.. People need to quit worrying about our WRs. We get one speedy slot guy and we're good

hey man at least Butler was the first panther to block a FG since peppers.

TWO, I believe!  Butler showed flashes.  Let's hope this year is a big one for him, staying healthy and balling out.

Haha. Even the Gettleman detractors have to acknowledge he's making moves

Man, I don't need moves to be made for the sake of making moves. I want smart moves being made.

I like Butler and wanted to give him the year to prove that he could replace KK.

Also on the concern about too much being invested at the DT position. You simply ask yourself ONE question, what if KK got hurt??? Or prior to today the other question would be what if we move on from KK...???

Butler allows us to feature two premiere interior pass rushers on passing downs, and while the edge rushers are important, the quickest way to the QB is straight up field, having DT's that can penetrate and prevent QB's from stepping up allows the DE's to run the arc and have more opportunities; and when the QB's do step up we have two studs waiting on the interior. This also allows Star to be that anchor on 1st, and 2nd downs. Which means we can rotate Short / Butler alongside Star to keep them fresh as well.

I like the more aggressive, but not foolish approach this off-season.

I'm in my mid 40's now so I've watched a good bit of football in my day. My memories start in the late 70's, although because of my love of the sport I'm fairly knowledgeable about the history of the game. You can never have too many quality defensive linemen/pass rushers...especially in today's game.

Depth allows you to rotate and keep the rushers fresh.  ATL did a great job on Brady for 3 quarters in the SB. The d-line played lights out but were gassed in the 4th quarter. Not only do we have great depth at each position, but we have guys who can play multiple positions on the line. Pep can play anywhere, even LB. Short played DE last year at times. Butler can probably do the same. Just imagine all of the combos we can throw at people during a game.

This is terrible logic.

Literally everything went right for us that year. You can't just use what happened in 2015 as a template to success.
