I'm in between on this. I like the dude I just don't want to trade up for him.

I like him too. He does a lot of things very well. I think I'm just hoping we get the other LSU stud.

Cutting Ivory this year would not be a smart move on the Jaguars part as it results in $7,000,000 in dead cap space. It's much more cap conscious to wait til 2018 where the hit is $3,000,000.

They still have Yeldon who is young as well as Corey Grant, not to mention they still have a weak OL. You don't take the HB before the OL. If the consensus is that Elliot saw success due to DAL OL and he was taken 4th overall then drafting a HB 8th overall with one of the worst lines in the league further sets the offense back.

Did you even read the article? If Jacksonville is interested in an additional runner, a day two or three investment makes more sense roster wise, and economically.

they have SO MUCH MONEY though.

They can toss Ivory to the side like it's nothing and it won't hurt them long term though.

The real question is can you even read?

Notice how I put the word "after" before "this year"

It read as this year aka not the 2017 league year for me. If you were referring to 2017 it was not initially clear that is what you meant.

And if that is indeed your intent, it also makes little sense to carry Ivory/Yeldon/Fournette/Grant into the 2017 season.

On top of that having one of the worst run blocking offensive lines does not help or justify the cause to draft a HB at #4. That fact is also exacerbated by not having a QB.

Also it seems as though you did not read the full article.

Word from some sources is he got a guarantee from a top 10 team, so he decided to stop any workouts because he liked where he would end up.

Sounds like Panthers to me.

If any of that is true, I doubt it's from CAR, I can't see any of these teams looking to pick him up in the top 10.

1. Cleveland Browns
2. San Francisco 49ers
3. Chicago Bears
4. Jacksonville Jaguars
5. Tennessee Titans from Los Angeles Rams
6. New York Jets
7. Los Angeles Chargers
8. Carolina Panthers
9. Cincinnati Bengals
10. Buffalo Bills

Personally, ive been vocal in my declining interest in Fournette.  He scares me, and not in a good way.  I think his career will be incredibly underwhelming and likely cut short due to injuries.

That being said, i'm just about equally skeptical about McCaffrey's pro prospects.  I think he will end up being a lot like Reggie Bush - jack of all trades, master of none, and too slight to be a featured back.  I also think he'll have trouble contributing on offense because of his lack of physicality and i think his fit here is even worse because his only hope of being truly great is playing under an offensive mind that can take advantage of the mismatches he creates in spots... that offensive mind is NOT Shula.

I think the worst thing the team could do right now is limit the draft to guys that fit into Shula's current MO. We should not be shying away from talent because of him, if he's incapable of taking advantage they'll find someone who can.

It would be how it seems ha, I haven't even opened the article. I'm just saying after 2017 Ivory is very easy to cut ties with contract wise and none of the guys you mentioned are still a good enough reason to pass up on Fournette.

At the end of the day the Jags need to find a way to keep the ball out of Bortles hands as much as possible. Fournette will be the closest thing to a real solution.

I get you're talking economical stand point but with how Ivory's contract is structured and the talent drop off from all those guys to LF, it just doesn't make sense from a economical or football stand point. LF needs to be their pick.

    • Aho…come out and prove me wrong boy.
    • I mean, I hear what y'all are saying, but Derrick could have been positive without being negative.  He essentially accused people of not seeing Bryce's improvement because of their desire to not be wrong. He could've kept it about Bryce and the team. For example, he could've said: "Bryce has made strides, and we believe in him. This coming season, his continued improvement will turn a lot of people into believers."  That would've been supportive of his teammate and sent a message to the doubters. That being said, his tact almost summoned and left the door ajar for more skepticism. That's my take anyway. Bryce has improved from the bottom to perhaps skirting the line between the bottom third and mid-third at best...after three seasons. We've all seen it. Yay! In my mind, Bryce has still got a long way to go and a short time to get there, but my expectations are top five--at least top 10--always! Yes, I am a fan, so there's that, but I don't believe it's unreasonable to expect excellence. Hopefully the Panthers FO has the same mindset (and that doesn't even necessarily have anything to do with what we gave up to acquire him). That is the lens I'm looking through. Derrick Brown has his homer glasses on. He just needs to be more diplomatic and thoughtful with his words in my opinion, but I get it that he's a good teammate.
    • I have no doubt the Canes will come out like gangbusters, huge bounce back from game one - my only concern is Freddie, if he lets in a couple of softies and Dobes stays hot we could be in trouble.
