The Way-Too-Early Regular Season Prediction Thread

8-8

Is everyone forgetting that Atlanta has won the past 3 games against us?

I see us losing at least one Atlanta game, at least one divisional game, and very possibly lose to the Packers, Patriots, Lions, Vikings, we poo the bed against the eagles in prime time thursday night , and one surprise loss against the 49ers or the Bills at the start of the season.

Atlanta winning the past 3 is utterly meaningless. Of course they beat us twice last year, we had a hurricane of injuries not to mention the effects of the bountygate that goodell/blandino put on Cam for all teams to participate in. And the 3rd loss back was their super bowl for that year, just a let down game for an otherwise perfect team. We might sweep them this year, we might split with them this year. We'll see, but the last 3 meetings have absolutely no bearing on it.  We beat them bad enough in the first meeting of 2015 to count for 3 wins but that didn't help us the next three times.

1. SF - w blowout

2. Bills - w blowout

3. NO - w close at the beginning but we pull away in second half

4. NE - w this game could determine the rest of the season. Obviously entirely possible we lose, especially if things fall apart like last year.  This could be the game that gives us our mojo back though.

5. Lions - w close one after emotional previous game

6. Philly - l lose first game after 1.5 emotionally draining weeks

7. Chi - w blowout

8. TB - l another disappointing game but the bucs are legit better, sniffing 10 or 11 wins this year

9. Atl - l fans start panicking, talking heads start shitting on the panthers

10. Miami - w tough win against a physical defense but inept offense gets us an ugly win

11. Jets - w set new world record by scoring the first 100 pt game in NFL history, allowing them a mercy fg at the end to save some face

12. NO - w wild shootout

13. Vikes - w another ugly win against a damn good defense, but their window has passed. Mediocre passer combined with mediocre rb squad AND they now have to deal with the remmers problem

14. GB - l they get their revenge for 2015

15. TB - w tough game but home crowd is getting hype for the playoffs and we win a close one

16. Atl - w we destroy them on our way to building momentum for our playoff push

12-4 record

We had lost to the Seahawks 3 or 4 times in a row too...until we didn't.

My beliefs about our ability to beat the seahawks were pretty simular too, until the team proved me otherwise. They'll have to do that this year for me to change my  beliefs.

    • so.....the entire second round is essentially holding out for guaranteed contracts.  Seems like it is stuck w/ Judkins and Emmanowori being the 3rd and 4th picks of that round and whatever slow trickle down does or doesn't produce from them.
    • This is always a non-story by the time camp begins.
    • I've really only begun to pay attention this week being that training camp is looming, so I was personally caught off guard by the fact that Nic Scourton remains unsigned. That's not necessarily bad news, but it's not necessarily good news either. Apparently it's a thing with this year's draft class. "Of the 32 players selected in the second-round, 30 remained unsigned and the clock is ticking. "Already we've seen one second-round pick hold out from the start of training camp with that player being Los Angeles Chargers' wide receiver Tre Harris. Harris did not report with the rest of the Chargers' rookies on Saturday due to his contract situation, a issue that could impact nearly every other team in the league. "For the Panthers, defensive end Nic Scourton is the player to watch for when rookies start showing back up to the team facilities next week. "The 51st overall pick is one of the 30 second-rounders who has yet to sign their rookie contract and the reason why is due to the other two that have actually signed. "Cleveland Browns' linebacker Carson Schwesinger and Houston Texans' wide receiver Jayden Higgins each signed fully guaranteed contracts as the first and second players drafted in the second-round. Prior to this year, second-round picks never received a fully guaranteed deal, only players selected in the first-round." https://atozsports.com/nfl/carolina-panthers-news/panthers-nic-scourton-contract-second-round-pick-training-camp-hold-out-tre-harris/ So, I suppose we'll see what's what pretty soon. It's definitely something to monitor.
