act of desperation: Panthers interested in 35 yr old DT Hollis Thomas

If you've ever watched the more recent Football Follies shows on NFL network, you've probably seen Hollis Thomas. He's always on the sidelines cracking jokes during the games and the NFL Network had him miked for one game (can't find footage online though).

If he can still clog the line, we're to the good. And we could use a few laughs right about now.

not finding a way to keep Sunny was a mistake.

Thomas is old and can't stay healthy. Give him 4 weeks of playing time and injuries will have already occured to him. He is a band-aid for a few weeks if we get lucky.

thomas knows what he is doing. sunny didn't.

sunny was a project at best. i think he could be very good in the future but when you are on a team that has to win now "or else" you can't really afford to take on any more projects.

i like hollis quite a bit. he's a smart player and good for morale. he's still pretty strong as well. for the time being, he is a good option.

only problem is i don't trust his ability to stay healthy. he was hurt last year with a triceps tear. the kind of freak injury that usually happens to older players. when you have a position that is already prone to getting hurt like we have at DT, you don't want to get someone who has a problem getting healthy. it's agamble that i how works but i don't really think it can for the long term (long term meaning the whole season).

    • In a lot of ways it makes sense to just draft a tackle early so they have flexibility with icky's injury and Motons not getting younger. I'd love for them to resign BC cause to me he looks pretty good anywhere they put him
    • Rods the one who needs to go if they don't win a cup soon, Overall I like the way Tulsky operates, do i wish he had pivoted to several smaller moves instead of going all in on a big acquisition? Obviously.   But RBA is the one I'm locked onto, he is too stuck in his ways and if if "his way" can't get somthing done he just triples down and proves his insanity by trying the same stupid crap over and over, the facebook casuals will be like but but but 8 years in a row making the playoffs.... yes we'll guess what we should have at least a cup to show for it, yes only one team wins every year but this year will be the 8th consecutive year making the playoffs.... heck none of us even get excited about that and haven't in four years minimum.  Our top guys are nearing the peak of their prime the time is now, but the canes seem content to stand pat and "make the playoffs" anther 5-8 years in a row.
    • #Panthers TE Tommy Tremble has a $2 million guarantee that is triggered today at 4 p.m. I don’t expect any movement there, fwiw. Tremble is due a $3.67 million base salary this season. He has another $2.4 million in incentives on his deal, per Over the Cap. https://x.com/mike_e_kaye/status/2032117015121391697?s=46&t=xeIgh_-Vr2aKxBkBJdfnKA
