If we didn't draft him, who would have?

No other team picked a running back after us. If we passed on McCaffrey, would another team have picked him up? If so, which team?

I am wondering if he would have still been available in round 2 for us...

The Eagles probably would have moved up to 10. Or they would have just taken him at 14 if nobody else moved up.

Players from a position going early or not =/= depth or lack thereof at said position

If there's no depth at a position, but a very good player on the board, that player is going to go early, and teams are going to clamor over one another to try and get him.

Look what happened with the QBs. There were honestly no game changing QBs, but the 3 top rated QBs all went via pretty crazy trades, because after them the drop is pretty big.

Nobody is taking RBs as often because they'll be there in the 2nd, 3rd, etc.

McCaffrey was not going to last past the 20th pick. I assume the Eagles,Bucs,and Broncos had interest in him.

i get the hometown kid thing but they needed OL more than any team in the draft.

People need to realize Cmc was picked not because of whether or not he is better than Fournette or Cook but with what he brings to the team he offers more flexibility. 

My gut level concern is honestly Cam being able to find him and use him in the slot.

But here is a weapon many have cried for. Lets see.

Cam and him will have to play catch literally and figuratively after he heals.
