SI Round 2 & 3 Mocks: Cam Robinson be a Panther.

We just invested a 1st round draft choice on a HB and resigned Stewart to a 2yr contract in the offseason. We need to run the ball more effectively and limit Cam's carries. We can do that if we can improve our run blocking.

Michael Oher is no sure thing at RT this year coming off of his 2016 injury. And, even if he's healthy he just an average to mediocre run blocker. We need someone who blow people off of the LOS. Robinson can do that.

Would I be upset if we drafted a CB, WR, or S. Nope. We're almost guaranteed to get a good player no matter who we pick in the 2nd. But, we haven't drafted an O-lineman high in the draft during G-Man's 4 years in Carolina. I think this is the year to do so.

I would certainly snatch Cam Robinson at 40 if he is there.  Couldnt we expect him to start and be effective somewhere on the line from day one?

Why? He's not a LT. As a RT, how is he different from Williams? Power blocker who struggles with speed rushers. And even if he is a better fit at OG, he sure isn't better than Norwell or Turner. Why reach for a player who has shown nothing more than what we already have? At the cost of missing on a quality player somewhere else.

This is the area of the draft where Gettleman picks a guy that nobody has ever heard of or was mocked in like the 4th round. Not saying it'll be a bad thing long term, just trying to prepare everyone for disappointment.

fourth round pick is going to be a defensive tackle I would put money on that- I'm betting the guy from UNC Charlotte.

I think the Packers go King, Seattle goes Robinson, and Awuzie falls a bit more.

then I would jump on Awuzie if he fell to us, I think he could end up being the best CB from this class

I want more weapons for the offense 2 of the next 3 picks. I'm seeing what ATL did for Ryan, and TB for Jameis. I want to continue to see early draft picks at skill positions to add some more big play potential to this offense. Take a project in the 4th or 5th at T, but we are currently set as far as the starters go.

We need to make sure we have threats at depth, I love the size of KB, Funchess, and Olsen, but I'd like to see another TE, and either a HB/WR taken today as well. Continue to round out this offense for next season, and life after Stewart. This is the perfect time.

    • A winning record would be nice, but I still have us winning around the 6 to 8 game mark. Realistically we should beat the Jets and Saints, that gets us to 5 wins. After that, we have to face a lot of potential play off teams and our divisional opponents. I think we’ll win 1 or 2 of those games to take us to 6 or 7 wins, perhaps 8 wins if we can spring a further surprise.  Is that enough progress for head coach and QB? I’m not sure, it will depend on performances and output. That said, it’s nice to be back in a position where we are thinking about the play offs.
    • I would tend to agree about not falling into the trap and paying a below average QB, but sometimes situations can “force” a team to pay that QB. For example, if we play ourselves into a 9-8 like record, then what options will we have in the draft? Or do we avoid the draft and trade for or sign someone in free agency?  I’m not convinced by the 2026 QB draft class. There’s some intriguing prospects but no one that really screams “draft me”. I’m not sure we’ve got anyone really that stands out as a trade candidate or free agent signing. So although we might not want to commit a big money contract to Young, him playing well and showing progress might force the team’s hand.
    • Realistically we would be looking at no more than a mid round pick for Dowdle or Chuba. Are we really that desperate for a mid round pick? Not really. I would much prefer us utilise the two RBs in a 1-2 punch similar to how we used D-Will and Stewart. After all, Bryce is not Drew Brees. He won’t throw for 300+ yards and carry the team consistently as a passer. So having a strong running game with a 1-2 punch will be beneficial to him, and it will also be beneficial to the RBs because we can spell them and not overwork them.
