Who is the Best Pro Player Comparison to McCaffrey (Could be Active or Former Players)

Hoenheim

I'm just researching stuff about his running style and mesurables , and we'll have a shitload of time to speculate about this stuff before he even plays a down.

McCaffrey listed at 5'11'' 202 lbs

I think physically, he's about as close as you can get to Reggie Bush (6'0'' 205)  LeSean McCoy (5'11 207), Tiki Barber (5'10'' 205)  Brian Westbrook  (5'10'' 203). Not surprisingly all fast shifty dudes more about speed than power.

Here's some great RBs that are somewhat close to McCaffrey in measurables : Marshall Faulk (5'10'' 211) , Emmit Smith (5'9'' 210) , Ladanian Tomlinson  (5'10'' 215) , Curtis Martin (5'11'' 210 ) , I'm trying to use only RBs that have played in this millennium .  Otherwise I'd include Walter Payton (5'10'' 200lbs) arguably best RB of all time.

So what I get from these mesurable comparisons is that, McCaffrey is already at a size where if he wants to simply continue to be that elusive speedster like McCoy, Bush, Westbrook then he doesn't have to gain or lose any weight at all. Some more well rounded RB i listed in the 2nd line that have more power to their game , only about 10 lbs heavier than McCaffrey so dude has the potential to put on a little bit and run through some nfl tackles too. Not exactly sure what will happen but its nice to know that the weight isn't an immediate problem if his elusivness translates to the NFL level.

So who is the best comparison? I'd have to say Lesean McCoy almost exact same size and shiftiness, catch VERY well , and break away speed.

His ceiling? If were lucky, possibly a Marshall Faulk type player. Yes a very lofty comparison and not expecting him to be THAT good. But I'm talking about the upper limits of what he COULD be.Christian receivers passes unlike any other RB (much like Faulk), very elusive, great patience, vision , footwork, and when there is green grass ahead he's simply gone. Faulk an inch shorter and about 10 lbs heavier so there's that.

    • Not sure how much he was a long term piece of this team.   Sucks to not have him as part of the rotation.   Looks like it's Lee Hunter time.
    • This post was an error. Oops and sorry for the errors in the previous one. Too slow to edit.   We’ll see what they do.
    • I am not sure he will put the over the games but we’ll probably have them.   Two things I am thinking.  We have 4 preseason games.  All the coaches have enough service time to know the standards that are in place for decades. If I recall it was play your starters just a series to start woth and build it up until week theee where play a lot and you have week four to set hour roster. Evaluate before cuts.   Bevell will certainly have the whole thing down pat.   I’d they don’t do the fries and frie air will worry too. Because it is set up to do that.     I have said since they went t three preseason people have to figure a new way are still feeling it out and trying things.  We don’t have to this year.
