Charlotte has little to offer as a city in terms of entertainment, it's a VERY boring city especially considering it's size being quite large and if you think otherwise, you probably don't travel much.

What makes Charlotte so boring despite its size is the fact Charlotte is a business/banker city. Hell half PSL owners aren't even fans, it's a business endevour. Honestly, I think JR likes it like that, as he is a business man before anything else, including being a fan of his own franchise, more proof than not to prove that. That's his job, have no issues with it.

 

That said he's old fashioned. And old. He likes tradition. He likes doing the same things over and over. Panther games have the same exact routine/entertainment/music as they did 5 years ago. His stadium will continue to be boring. Again, if you think BOA is exciting, you need to travel more.

 

People don't come to Charlotte for any reason. There is nothing to see here in terms of entertainment. Therefore hotels aren't going to come here. Simple as that. They're not bringing a SB here betting on the rich yuppies uptown to put their place on airbnb lol come on.

 

Lastly, Charlotte does not have the roadwork to support an event this massive. Charlotte itself is simply not able to support an event this massive...yet.

 

That will change though. Charlotte is growing at a very fast rate. A new owner who encourages change, new stadium and about 10 more years of growing will be required before Charlotte is considered IMO.

NFL requirements in order to host a Super Bowl

  • Only a stadium with 70,000 seats
  • The nfl will get 100% of the Super Bowl ticket revenue and must have exclusive access to club seats
  • Stadium needs to be climate controlled if on the week of the game is below 50 Degrees (makes sense)
  • Grass needs to be in top condition and re-sodded or reconditioned
  • nfl doesn’t seem to pay for any of the costs associated with hosting a Super Bowl unless it will help them make additional revenue, for broadcasting or repairs after the Big Game. (eg. moving cables, utilities, etc)
  • The stadium needs to be on security lockdown 96 hours before gameday
  • Stadium needs to carry $100,000,000 in insurance
  • Super Bowl operational costs are over $2.5 million
  • Stadium can’t have advertising anywhere in the stadium
  • Only products that can be sold are non-branded products or products that sponsor the nfl
  • Drink vendors are contracted and there need to be a certain amount of female owned vendors or minority workers
  • A special menu needs to be provided for suites and nfl working booths at a minimum of 30% discount and no gratuity
  • Stadium has to sell advanced tickets to events
  • Host committee can purchase up to 750 tickets
  • Must be 35% as many hotel rooms are there are seats within 60 minutes of the stadium
  • Hosting committee can and nfl get room rebates from hotels for the Super Bowl
  • The nfl needs a hotel reserved with at least 1,000 rooms
  • nfl won’t pay any cost of hotel internet or phone
  • Coaches must have second locker room with internet and phone access
  • Catering for the Practice teams must be provided at no cost to the nfl
  • Laundry facilities must be provided at no cost to the nfl
  • Team hotels must televise nfl network for one year up to the Super Bowl
  • nfl won’t pay any taxes (It’s a non-profit)
  • Local enforcement officers will be provided to the nfl at no additional cost
  • nfl gets 100% of proceeds for all Super Bowl food and beverage sales
  • Local papers have to cover the event extensively
  • nfl requires access to 3 golf courses and 2 bowling lanes
  • Stadium needs to provide a social media monitoring and response center for the nfl
  • The nfl will donate money to the host committee through the Super Bowl Legacy Grant

Some of the requirements for the big game. The requirements list is 153 pages long. I don't see Charlotte ever hosting one.

Hotels and traffic are the issues.

Common sense makes people think about the teams and the spectators. But, the WORLD WIDE News Media needs hotel rooms too. Like all the crew that sets up all the sets and cameras. all the shows, and concerts, halftime show performers and all their crews and performers.

Charlotte Motor Speedway holds 58.5k more spectators then BoA does (not including the tracks Infield) - But, it's not a WORLD WIDE thing like the SB, and also, most of the participants businesses and houses are located within an hour or less of the speedway. (that's 40+ teams, crews and families. Not to mention the TV broadcast crews, and sponsors/performers)

So, there is a slight difference in the 2 large events. (Charlotte Coca-Cola 600, NFL - Super Bowl)

Just stating to put into perspective.
