Yep. It's Happening: "#Panthers owner Jerry Richardson and Marty Hurney meeting today, league source said. Expected to be named interim GM."

We never had a 4 year span as good as the last four years. Clearly something was going on behind closed doors and Gettleman might have fuged poo up and was rightly fired. Fine I can live with that and trust Jerry....
You can not argue that Gettleman had more succes here in four years than Hurney had in ten. Who cares about who drafted who. We won 40 games over the last four year and went to the PO three times. Hurney was never closed to that kind of succes over a four year span and if I am not mistaken only got os to into the PO three times over TEN years....
Hunrey might have an eye for talent. But who cares if you can draft like a god if you lose games because you have pissed all the money away on stupid contracts. Gettleman might have won with a foundation build by Hurney... But that is more than Hurney could with a foundation build by Hurney...

This is a PR nightmare. We are a joke. Lets just hire Hardy and trade away a first round pick for Fox... Talk about having a bad day to have a bad day. I guess it is what it is.

Not really a fair comparison, hurney drafted cam and luke. The team was on its way back to being competitive whether hurney here or not it just took time for everything click. Hurney wasn't given that time to see it three cuz he had already been here so long and in comes gettleman to ride the success right when things started clicking around year 3 of rivera and cam.

Cam and Luke would be gone by now. There was no way Hurney would've gotten us out of our cap woes by then and have enough to resign them both, or even one of them.

@AceBoogie should be ecstatic - that's his dawg

That's a commom misconception, I was just as happy when Hurney got fired. The only difference is I didn't dislike Hurney I just knew we needed a change. What I've disliked is how everyone blames everything wrong with this franchise on Hurney and everything good the credit goes to Gettleman. Yet those same people will praise Gettleman and credit him for any success we have in the next 5 years.

Panthers | Chris Gamble likely to be cap casualty

Sun, 10 Feb 2013 12:37:10 -0800

The Carolina Panthers are expected to release CB Chris Gamble in order to clear $7.9 million in salary cap space. Gamble is the team's best cover corner but the team will not able to afford his $10.9 million salary cap figure for 2013.

Hurney wasn't allowed to see it through because he dug a S - - thole with contracts he gave out and then threw the team in it. Do you not understand money? MONEY, the salary cap dictates the roster. Hurney was/is a dumbass when it comes to the cap. And the senile old goat that owns the team is sending us back down the same frigg'n road.

    • They can get film of all the games? Every team? Wow! Who knew… Our games with them are big examples of why they are in  the CB market so hard.   It is the study they do getting ready for the games.  Preparing to play against is a little different than just analyzing film in scout mode. Deeper dive. Then you are analyzing post game too.  This goes to why players often change teams but stay in the division. The opponents know each other on a higher level.  Plus if you lost to us, you used to get fired. Now you have to trade your first round pick. Moving up on the world.
    • I honestly can’t believe this team’s turnaround this season. It’s surreal. Figured healthy we’d be fringe playoffs and with another lottery pick could finally turn the corner, but we don’t even need that. This group is ready. We haven’t played remotely well the last 5 games and yet still blew out 5 bad teams by 16+ each game like it was casual practice. We had a few solid teams with Kemba and Big Al but this is easily our best group since the original Hornets moved to NO. Man, what a shift in culture this new ownership group and front office has brought. So damn happy to see it after years of suffering and consistently meaningless games in this stretch of previous seasons.   Only 2.5 games out of the 6 seed, although Miami, Atlanta and Orlando have been playing well too. Gonna be a fun final stretch, hopefully we can get a top 8 seed at the very least. Celtics tomorrow will be a good test. Would be huge to keep the road winning streak up against a very hot top team on the 2nd half of a back to back. We’ve played Boston pretty well the last few years with much of this same group despite sucking so I do feel pretty good about it. Kon is due for a huge game coming off a few cold shooting games (although despite the poor shooting he’s been contributing well with defense, assists and rebounds).
    • It amazes me how underrated Horn has become after he finally was able to stay on the field. Sure last year wasn’t perfect but he was still a huge reason for our rebound defensively and I’d say he’s easily a top 10 corner. You don’t want to see Mike Jackson as our top corner. Any player is available for the right price but I’d be extremely hesitant to move Horn even for a big haul from LA.
